The BBC One Children in Need campaign on Friday night was where the actress’s casting on Coronation Street was announced live.
The 2023 holiday season will see the premiere of her first episode opposite Ncuti Gatwa’s 15th Doctor.
Gibson said she couldn’t believe she got the part in the long-running science fiction drama, calling it “a gift of a role, and a dream come true.”
I plan to fill my fellow travelers’ shoes.
The 18-year-old actor is recognised as the best young actor in the British soap awards this year for his portrayal of Kelly Neelan on Coronation Street. She played Lily in Butterfly and Indira in Jamie Johnson. “I’m honoured to be the Doctor’s companion,” she said.
Gatwaquote “Millie’s a sidekick. She’s skilled, strong, and has razor-sharp mental clarity.” Her energy and talent immediately won our admiration.” “Cruising the galaxy with Millie will be so wild and amazing!”
Showrunner Russell T. Davies has remarked of Millie, “She shines like a star already.” She has a lot of skill, personality, and brains. I’ve watched Millie make it through car chases, gunfire, and sieges on Coronation Street, but Ruby Sunday had it worse.
Last month, the Thirteenth Doctor underwent a regeneration into the Fourteenth. In November of 2023, to celebrate the show’s 60th anniversary, the Scottish actor will appear in not one but three episodes.
His work with Catherine Tate’s Donna dates back to 2008.
After 2023 is up, Gatwa will go into the position. Until now, it was unknown if any other actors would be joining him, but Gibson is now confirmed.
Davies, who revived the science fiction drama to great acclaim between 2005 and 2010, is in charge of the new episodes.
Showrunner Chris Chibnall, who oversaw Jodie Whittaker’s tenure as the Doctor, has been replaced by him.
The BBC and Disney confirmed their partnership for the long-running programme last month. The BBC will continue to air new episodes in the UK. Nonetheless, it will be available on Disney+ everywhere else in the world save the United Kingdom and Ireland.
