Black Myth Wukong: Gameplay, Trailer, Release Date Status, Story And Much More

Black Myth: Wukong may not be a household name yet, but judging by its recent announcement and gameplay trailer, it’s already garnering a lot of attention. This is Chinese indie developer Game Science’s first major project, and it’s incredibly ambitious.

Who Is The Developer Of Black Myth: Wukong?

The studio behind Black Myth is Game Science, a Chinese indie studio based in Hangzhou and Shenzhen.

Founded in 2014 by former Tencent developers. Previous titles include free-to-play mobile and his PC games 100 Heroes and Art of War: Red Tides.

When Is The Release Date of Black Myth: Wukong?

No release date has been announced at this time, but Game Science is aiming for a PC and console release. His FAQ on that website says it “shouldn’t last 500 years,” so hopefully we’ll see Black Myth: Wukong sooner or later.

Black Myth: Wukong’s Story-Line

While we don’t have many specific details about Black Myth’s story at this time, we know it’s based on the classic Chinese tale Journey to the West, one of “the four masterpieces” of classical Chinese literature. A portion of this original story focuses on Sun Wukong, also known as the Monkey King, who appears to be the main character in Black Myth: Wukong.

Main Character Of The Story

In Journey to the West, Son Goku is known for his incredible speed and strength, as well as his ability to transform into various animals and objects, all of which were showcased in the Black Mythology gameplay trailer. He wields a magical black iron staff that can extend and retract at the command of its owner.

According to the book, Wukong has many abilities such as:

Transform into various people, animals, and things
Create a clone of yourself or yourself in various forms
cloud flip
Incredible jumping ability, capable of jumping 108,000 Li (or over 33,000 miles) in one go
Weather manipulation
Spells that manipulate gods and spirits
Various forms of armed and unarmed martial arts .
A special breathing technique that grants him immortality.

Black Myth: Wukong Gameplay

About 13 minute long gameplay trailer gave me a good taste of what to expect from Black Myth: Wukong.

Throughout the video, Wukong is armed with his signature magic-infused black iron staff weapon, and at one point we get a glimpse of how it lengthens and knocks an entire army off its feet in one fell swoop.

In the trailer, we get a glimpse of Wukong’s ability to transform into a golden cicada to traverse the world and evade enemy detection. It seems to extend to a large army (dynasty warriors) that you have to defeat all by yourself. Some of the battles that stand out in the trailer are giant bosses, including giant wolf-like creatures, giant rolling spiders made entirely of bones, and lightning-wielding swordsmen.
