The American Music Awards (AMAs), the world’s largest fan-voted awards show, revealed on October 13 that the nominees for the year 2022 had signed treaties with music fans around the world.

The nominations are characterised by various metrics, including but not limited to streaming, album sales, single sales, radio airplay, and overall gross. Then, between September 24, 2021, and September 22, 2022, Luminate (MRC Data) and Billboard will cover the same ground.

This year, however, fans have an extra special treat: in addition to the usual 12 categories, there are also six brand-new ones, one of which is Favorite K-pop Artist. As seen by the fact that BLACKPINK, BTS, SEVENTEEN, TXT, and TWICE are all up for awards at the 2022 AMA, it is clear that there is a strong K-pop presence in the running this year.
And to the delight of their legions of fans, BTS has won the award for Favorite Pop Duo or Group for four years running. Amongst nominees Coldplay, Imagine Dragons, Manikin, and One Republic, this one took the cake.
The performance will be telecast live from Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles on November 21 at 10 a.m. KST.
