What Is Solo Leveling All About?

Solo Leveling is a Korean online book series by Chu-gong and Jang “Dubu” Sang-rak of Reduce Studio. The narrative is set in modern-day Korea and contains MMORPG aspects.

Humans with magical abilities can assume the role of a hunter, who enters the gates to another reality to kill monsters and bosses. If the hunting party clears the gate’s dungeon, the spoils can be converted into currency.

The main character, Sung Jin-woo, is the weakest hunter in the world. He continues to participate in dungeon raids despite his notoriety for paying for his mother’s hospital fees.

Jin-woo sacrifices himself during a double-dungeon run so that the rest of his team can escape. On the edge of death, the hunter inadvertently completes a hidden goal and transforms into a “player,” a unique position that enables him to complete tasks and levels up using a game-like system independently.
