Season 6 of Merlin Will Not Occur!
The creators of Merlin, Johnny Capps and Julian Murphy have stated that the fifth season will be the last. “This is the series in which the plots reach their true apex. We always believed that the best way to tell the story of the legend was throughout five seasons, culminating in a spectacular finale that draws on the most famous elements of this well-known tale and concludes the battle for Camelot,” they explained in a joint statement. Hence, no release of Merlin Season 6.
We want to thank the fantastic cast and crew for their professionalism and dedication, the BBC, FME, and all of our global partners for their incredible support and encouragement over the past five seasons.
But primarily want to express our gratitude to Merlin’s extraordinary and devoted global audience for their excitement for the characters and Camelot universe.
Danny Cohen of the BBC added, “Merlin’s blend of magic, adventure, and humor rapidly proved a smash with BBC One audiences and has continued to excite families on Saturday nights for the past five years. I respect the creators’ decision to end Merlin on a high note, but I know we will miss it on BBC One. On behalf of BBC One, I would like to thank Shine and everyone involved in the program’s production. We had ambitious plans for a new Saturday-evening drama in 2013. I hope fans will tune in over the next few weeks to see the theatrical closing episodes.”
Series Colin Morgan, who performed, also expressed gratitude to the show’s audience and cast. She stated,
“From the beginning, this was always going to be a five-year journey that we embarked on, and I think the show has run its natural course. The show has grown and grown each year, and now we’ve arrived at its strongest point and achieved what we set out to do… I know this is the end, and this is goodbye, but thank you for being there on the journey with us because it has been a lot of fun!”
