The American dark comedy TV show Kevin Can F**k Himself was made by Valerie Armstrong, who is also the show’s executive producer. The show takes place in Worcester, Massachusetts, and follows the life of Allison McRoberts, who is played by Annie Murphy. She is a woman who is unhappy in her marriage to Kevin, a man-child who is insensitive and lacks ambition. When Allison is with her husband Kevin, the show shows her as a stereotypical sitcom wife, with multiple cameras and canned laughter. When she is alone, the show shows her as a woman going through a hard time in her life, with a single camera and more realistic acting.
On June 13, 2021, the first two episodes were made available on AMC+, and on June 20, 2021, the first episode of the series aired on AMC. The show was picked up for a second season in August 2021.
AMC has confirmed that the upcoming second season of the comedy-drama starring Schitt’s Creek’s Annie Murphy will be it’s last.
After a strong first season, the network renewed the show for a second run in August. The first season was the most-watched show on AMC+ and was popular with young, wealthy, and mostly female viewers.
season 2 of the show, which was made by Valerie Armstrong, Rashida Jones, and Will McCormack, will be on TV in 2022. It is one of a number of shows on the network that will only run for two seasons. Other shows like The Walking Dead: World Beyond, 61st Street, and Pantheon will also do the same.
Season 1 is comedy and part dark drama, the first season told the story of Allison McRoberts (Murphy), a woman we all thought we knew as kids because she was the typical sitcom wife. She’s pretty and can laugh at herself, even though she’s usually the punchline. And she’s married to Kevin (Eric Peterson), a funny guy who must have won the marriage lottery because she looks like she does and he’s funny.
By switching camera angles, the show broke with TV norms and let viewers see what happened when the cameras followed Allison out of her husband’s domain and as she finally woke up to the wrongs in her life and fought back against them.
Cast and characters:
Annie Murphy plays Allison Devine-McRoberts, who wants to be in charge of her own life.
Mary Hollis Inboden plays the McRoberts’ neighbor, Patricia “Patty” Deirdre O’Connor, who works at a beauty salon.
Eric Petersen plays Kevin McRoberts, Allison’s annoying, rude, and clueless husband. He is based on the jerkish husbands in sitcoms like The King of Queens, The Honeymooners, and, most notably, Kevin Can Wait, which stars Kevin James. He doesn’t know anything about Allison’s life or what she does when she’s not with him.
Alex Bonifer plays Neil O’Connor, Kevin’s friend and Patty’s brother, who is often involved in his plans. Neil is not very smart, and like Kevin, he has no idea what Patty is doing without him.
Pete McRoberts, Kevin’s father, is played by Brian Howe. He usually says mean things about what is going on in the “sitcom” parts of the show.
Raymond Lee plays Samuel “Sam” Park, an old high school friend of Allison’s who now runs a diner and is married. He and Allison still like each other.
