She later became known all over the world for her role as Frances “Baby” Houseman in the 1987 romantic drama film Dirty Dancing, which earned her a nomination for a Golden Globe Award. The “Dirty Dancing” star’s “very frank” biography, “Out of the Corner,” will be released on May 3; the title refers to the film’s iconic phrase, “Nobody puts Baby in a corner.”
Grey, 62, recently spoke to People about the 1987 film and how, after its release, she famously had rhinoplasty at the advice of her own mother.
What did Jennifer say about her decision to get plastic surgery?
During her most recent interview with People, the 62-year-old discussed the influence her nose surgery had on her whole career. She further said that after becoming famous in 1987, she endured not one, but two rhinoplasty procedures.
Jen stated that she attended a premiere after having the surgery and that her close friend Michael Douglas didn’t recognize her since she looked so different after the procedure.
Grey said, “That was the first time I had gone out in public. And it became the thing, the idea of being completely invisible, from one day to the next. In the world’s eyes, I was no longer me.”
The Hollywood celebrity went on to say“I really thought it was capitulating. I really thought it meant surrendering to the enemy camp. I just thought, ‘I’m good enough. I shouldn’t have to do this.’ That’s really what I felt. ‘I’m beautiful enough.”
