Laverne Cox spoke about her partner in a new interview

explaining that their 22-year age gap “has not been an issue” and touching on the realities of dating as a trans woman.

The actor confirmed she has been dating someone for roughly six months and has no plans to make her boyfriend public.

On The View on Thursday (18 February), the 48-year-old actor raved over her new boyfriend, calling their reunion a “miracle”.

She stated that dating as a Black trans woman is “very confusing” and that transphobic stigmas are still a “real issue”.

“It’s really odd,” Cox added between laughs.

“We had a talk because I’m trying to keep him out of the spotlight.

“Yes, he is technically 22 years my junior, but that hasn’t been an issue. It’s hard to find someone with whom you truly connect.

Getting love is hard. I’m a 48-year-old Black trans woman who found love again, and it’s a miracle.

“I’m so thrilled that God has brought this man into my life.”

Stigma is a “very real issue” while dating as a trans person, according to Cox, and miscommunication is nothing new.

But, she replied, the remedy is simple.

“It’s been difficult,” she said. “Historically, many males who are attracted to trans women have been stigmatised.

» ‘Why can’t just be gay?’ remarked a guy I recently spoke with.

“I think there’s a lot of misinformation since trans femininity is often rejected.

“Men who like trans women like women – they’re not gay. People assume they’re gay, which is confusing.

Accepting that trans women are women, and that males who date us are dating a woman, has been done for years. It would be great if we could adopt that mindset.”

Who is Laverne Cox dating?

Cox previously dated Kyle Draper, the CEO of Mateo Sound, for two years before calling it quits in June 2019.

“After much soul searching and tears from both of us, we have decided it’s time for us to go our separate ways,” Cox wrote on Instagram at the time. “We decided we should make a public statement since our relationship was public in ways neither of us anticipated. This is that public statement.”

“We know our relationship meant so much to so many people, especially trans folks, giving them hope that this kind of love is possible for them as well,” she added. “That hope, the hope for love has not waned for me in the face of this breakup but rather is fortified.”

The man Laverne Cox is dating is “insanely hot,” she told PEOPLE this month. She said her new boyfriend has a “beautiful soul.”

People: The two of them have decided to keep their relationship private and not make it public any time soon.

“He’s just so kind and funny, and we’ve laughed and had the best time.”

His games are off. I like him for who he is. He’s kind, sweet, real, funny, and great.

“Also, he’s 20 years younger than me. So that’s a lot. I always go out with younger men.
