Istanbul blast kills 6, injures 53 in Taksim; no Israelis hurt

Video allegedly taken at the scene appears to show an exploding backpack, lending credence to the theory that this was the source of the explosion, though this has not yet been confirmed. 

 

Approximately six persons were killed and fifty-three were injured in an explosion on a major highway in Istanbul on Sunday afternoon, according to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The explosion’s street has businesses and restaurants on both sides. Tourists and locals frequent it.

Istanbul prosecutor’s statement
