Alan Shearer Criticized Antony’s Footwork During Manchester United’s Victory Against Tottenham

During Manchester United’s victory against Tottenham by a score of 2-0, Alan Shearer called attention to Antony’s faults, namely his poor footwork.

On Wednesday, Pundit Shearer made a very special cameo in the commentary booth for Amazon Prime’s broadcast of the match at Old Trafford (October 19). Alongside the primary commentator, Jon Champion, he assisted in calling the action.

In the broadcast, the legendary player from Newcastle criticized the choice that United winger Antony made to utilise his more muscular left foot rather than scoop the ball with his weaker right foot. This decision resulted in his team losing control of the ball in the 24th minute of the game.

The 86 million-pound summer acquisition from Ajax has started the season looking one-footed, and Champion’s response to Shearer’s assessment was a joke: “The one-footed 86 million-pound summer signing from Ajax” “On the subject of Antony, to be precise.

“They only spent £84 million; at that sum, are you suggesting that you should expect a two-footed player for that kind of money?”

Antony, 22, has had a great beginning to his career with United, even though he lacks confidence with his right foot. It’s only been five games, but he’s already scored three goals in the Premier League, and he had a chance to add another against Spurs.
