A Christmas Story’ Sequel Gets First Teaser Trailer for Ralphie’s Return 39 Years Later

Ralphie is ready to return to A Christmas Story Christmas. In the nostalgia-filled first teaser trailer for the sequel to his 1983 classic A Christmas Story for HBO Max, the familiar set of the original film is replaced by a festive instrumental of his track as iconic lines from the movie game.

At the end of the preview, we can see a close-up of our adult protagonist, Ralphie (Peter Billingsley), wearing glasses and smiling. Fans can hear “Ho Ho Ho” at the end of the trailer. This is a nod to the memorable moment in the first film when Santa slides down Ralphie’s Mall slide.
This scene takes place after Ralphie asks for the coveted Red Rider BB Gun for Christmas and Santa tells him to “close your eyes, boy.” A Christmas Story Christmas is directed by Clay Katis. As well as reprising his role as Ralphie, Billingsley, now 51, is producing the project.
The film was written by Nick Schenck, who also serves as executive producer. In addition to Billingsley, the film is being produced by Vince Vaughn through the couple’s Wild West Picture Show Productions for Legendary and Warner Bros. Set in the 1940s, the original Christmas story follows 9-year-old Ralphie and his wish to acquire a Red Rider BB Gun for Christmas.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the upcoming sequel will be “set in the 1970s, with a grown-up Ralphie returning to his home on the streets of Cleveland and treating his children to a magical experience like when he grew up.” I will see you give such a Christmas.”

Ian Petrella, Zach Ward, Scott Schwartz, and R. Robb will also reprise her role from the original, alongside newcomers Erin Hayes, River Drosche, Julianna Raine, and Julie Haggerty.
The script will be written by Executive Producer Nick Schenk and directed by Clay Katis. Billingsley also created banners for her Wild West Picture Show with her partner Vince Vaughn. Cale Boyter and Jay Ashenfelter are directing his Legendary.

Directed by Bob Clark, the original film is based on material from author Gene Shepard’s collection of short stories, In God We Trust, All Others Pay Cash, and also stars Billingsley, Melinda Dillon, and Darren McGavin.
