All You Want to Know About the ‘Yellowstone’ Spinoff ‘666’

The show will take place on the 6666 ranch in Texas, which was featured in Yellowstone’s fourth season.

Fans of Yellowstone haven’t heard the big news in a long time that their favorite fictional universe would be growing.

First, we heard that the show would get a prequel about the Dutton family’s ancestors before they moved to Montana. This show eventually became 1883. Then, we heard that a spin-off about the 6666 (pronounced “four sixes”) ranch in Texas was also in the works.

Even though 1883 became a must-watch show on Paramount+ in 2021, there hasn’t been much information about spin-offs.

But a new profile of Taylor Sheridan coming out before the start of Yellowstone’s fifth season may finally give those who want to see more of the Texas ranch some hope.

The Atlantic says that the show will start sometime in 2023, but it doesn’t say much else about what will happen.

What we know so far about the new spin-off is the following:

What does it mean?

The new show, which was first announced in February 2021 and had the working title 6666, sounds like it will have the same modern western drama as Yellowstone but in a whole new setting.

Here is the full description of the show that was given when it was announced:

Since it was started when the Comanches still ran West Texas, the 6666 has more history in the West than any other ranch in America.

Still working the same way it did two hundred years ago and covering an entire county, the 6666 is where the rule of law and the laws of nature meet in a place where the next thing you do is the most dangerous thing you can do.

The number 6666 is a symbol of how hard people work to raise the best horses and livestock in the world. It’s also where world-class cowboys are born and raised.

Sheridan, John Linson, Art Linson, David Glasser, Ron Burkle, and Bob Yari will be in charge of making the show.

Since Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan bought the real-life 6666 ranch in 2020, it’s possible that the show could be filmed there, but that’s still up in the air.

Who is the founder of 6666 Ranch?

Samuel “Burk” Burnett learned how to run a ranch from his father when he was ten years old. When he was 19, Samuel “Burk” Burnett bought a hundred head of cattle with the number “6666” on them.

In 1900, he bought the 8 Ranch nearby, which later became known as the Four Sixes or 6666 Ranch.

Who owned the 6666 Ranch?

This massive ranch in west Texas has been in the Burnett family and part of a trust until Samuel Burnett’s great-granddaughter Anne Windfohr Marion died in early 2020. The ranch is also called the Four Sixes Ranch or the 6666 Ranch.

In her will, the property was put up for sale for $341 million. The Star-Telegram confirmed what everyone already knew: Taylor Sheridan is leading a group that signed a contract to buy the property in December 2020.

(The contract was signed in March 2022.) Sheridan told Texas Spur, “The history of the 6666 Ranch and Miss Marion’s vision for the ranch is important not only for the ranch but also for the long history of ranching in Texas.”

This is the first time in more than 150 years that it has been sold.

“The ranch was bought in its entirety. It was featured on the hit show Yellowstone and will continue to be known as an icon in the ranching community,” said Don Bell, owner, and broker of United Country Real Estate, in a press release.

“This unique ranch is always making history, and this purchase was no different.”

What does the 6666 Ranch look like?

Huge! The ranch is made up of three separate properties in west Texas. Together, they cover more than 266,000 acres, which is more significant than San Antonio and twice as big as Chicago.

Still, it is the ninth-largest ranch in Texas.

Will Paramount stream the 6666 Ranch?

They have already! Some scenes for season 4 of Yellowstone were shot at the ranch in October 2020. Will the 6666 Ranch be the subject of a TV show?

You bet! Paramount also said before that a spinoff called “6666,” which is just a working title will now start on the Paramount Network.

The switch from the streaming service Paramount+ to the linear network was announced on May 18, 2022, as part of Paramount’s upfront presentation.

In February 2022, our sources at Paramount only told us that 6666 was in the development stage.

Who is included in the show?

So far, nothing has been said about who will be on the new show, but Yellowstone’s fourth season gave some fans hope that they might see some familiar faces.

Jimmy, a worker at the Yellowstone ranch, was sent to work at the 6666 for most of the fourth episode. This showed off the new ranch and a few characters who could come back in the spin-off.

Jimmy and his new fiancee Emily seem like the most likely candidates for roles on the new show. However, neither actor Jefferson White, who plays Jimmy, nor Kathryn Kelly, who plays Emily, have confirmed anything, so it’s just a guess as to whether or not they will be on 6666.

White told Looper, “I wish I knew what was going to happen to you in the Yellowstone universe.”

“I don’t think it will surprise you to hear that they don’t say anything to me. Most of the time, my job is just to try to hold on to the bucking bronco.

When I try to guess what Taylor will do, he always does something better, more surprising, cooler, and more interesting than what I thought he would do. So, at this point, I’ve just learned to try to hang on.”

When will it be available?

Even though The Atlantic said that the show is likely to come out in 2023, we still don’t know for sure when 6666 will be on TV.

But 1883 started filming just three months before its December 2021 premiere, so it’s possible that the wait won’t be as long as some might think. We can only hope for now.

We’ll add new information to this post as soon as it comes out, about 6666.
