Who Was Thomas Kingston?

Buckingham Palace reported on Tuesday that Thomas Kingston, the financier spouse of Lady Gabriella Kingston, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 45. In 2019, Kingston entered into the most renowned family in Britain when he wed Lady Gabriella in an opulent ceremony held at Windsor Castle’s St. George’s Chapel.

The daughter of Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, Lady Gabriella, 42, is 56th in line for the British throne. She paid tribute to her “beloved husband” in a family statement on Tuesday, describing him as “an exceptional man who lit up the lives of all who knew him.” She went on to say, “his death has come as a great shock to the whole family.”

After learning of the financier’s passing, Buckingham Palace stated that King Charles III and Queen Camilla “join Prince and Princess Michael of Kent and all those who knew him in grieving a much-loved member of the family.”

“In particular, Their Majesties send their most heartfelt thoughts and prayers to Gabriella and to all the Kingston family,” said a representative for the palace.

On Sunday, emergency personnel were called to a Gloucestershire property where Kingston was discovered dead just after 6 p.m. (1 p.m. ET).
CNN sources that while an inquest is anticipated to ascertain the cause of death, no suspicious circumstances or other parties are thought to be involved.

The King’s second cousin, Lady Gabriella, is not employed by the royal family. Prior to the news of Kingston’s passing on Tuesday, her parents, Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, had joined other members of the British royal family at a memorial service for the late King Constantine II of Greece.

According to the UK’s PA Media news agency, Lady Gabriella’s godfather was Constantine, who passed away in January of last year. Due to personal reasons, Prince William, who was also the late Greek monarch’s godchild, was unable to attend the last-minute memorial service at St. George’s. It is thought, therefore, that the Prince of Wales’s absence had little to do with the passing of Kingston.

Thomas Kingston Cause of Death

On February 25, 2024, Thomas Kingston committed suicide at his parents’ Cotswolds home. According to Gloucestershire senior coroner Katy Skerrett, Kingston “was found in a locked outbuilding with a catastrophic head injury—a gun was found at the scene,” as reported by Sky News’ Dan Whitehead on X.

“He had been visiting his parent’s house in the Cotswolds for lunch. Police were called to the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious.” “On his return, Mr. Kingston was not in the house,” Skerrett told The Telegraph.

After lunch with his parents, Kingston vanished from sight. His father had gone outside to walk the dog. According to Skerrett, his mother went in search of him after thirty minutes.

During the investigation, Skerrett stated, “His father forced entry on a locked outbuilding when no reply could be gained,” as reported by The Guardian. “He found Mr. Kingston deceased with a catastrophic head injury.”

“There was a gun at the scene,” the coroner went on. The emergency services were contacted. Police are sure that there is no suspicious death.”
