Finally, it has here! During the intermission of Monday Night Football, the second trailer for season 3 of The Mandalorian debuted. Even though the clip was only 90 seconds long, it was action-packed! As the March 1st release date approaches, we are here to break it down and explain everything you may have missed.

This first opening scene depicts a group of Mandalorians, of whom we get a closer look in a few moments, sporting cool new helmet colors and patterns. We saw a similar view in the teaser published during D23 in September of last year, but this appears to be a more extended look at this scene.

Din Djarin’s (Pedro Pascal) voice may be heard asking the series’ central question: what do Mandalorians represent? In the new season, he delves further into his religion and culture. The actor hinted at this in a summer interview with Total Film, stating that Din will be a hesitant leader in the third season, something these shots in the trailer also suggest.

1. MANDALORIANS, ASSEMBLE

It appears that, for the first time since Season 1, Din Djarin’s original Mandalorian family will fight together again. Since we now know that they were fundamentally religious radicals, it will be intriguing to see what their reappearance implies for the Mandalorian people’s future.

2. A DROID CANTINA?

I, too, am unsure what to make of this, but I adore it. Season 3 of The Mandalorian will take us to a cantina where all patrons are droids. This may be a brilliant method to extend the Solo-established robots’ rights plotline.

3. MORE JEDI?

This is the most significant number of Jedi seen thus far in The Mandalorian. It took two full seasons to reveal a standard lightsaber to the audience, excluding the Darksaber, which plays a crucial role in Mandalorian history. Now we could be getting a lot more, and while that’s fantastic, I can’t help but fear that a renewed focus on the Jedi could weaken the show’s uniqueness.

4. THE RETURN OF MANDALORIAN

In a special episode of Boba Fett, we accompanied Mando as he visited his former tribe following the conclusion of Season 2 of Mandalorian. Unfortunately, when he disclosed that he had shown his face during a mission, they fired him. This image suggests that Djarin discarded his helmet only to reclaim it at the appropriate time.

5. PAUL SUN-HYUNG LEE

The star of Kim’s Convenience is back as the New Republic’s equivalent of the galactic traffic patrol. When we last saw him, he was investigating the origins of the First Order. Before Gina Carano was fired and derailed the Rangers of the New Republic spinoff, it was likely that Lee would have played a significant role.

If Lee returns, we will likely discover more about how the remains of the Empire have organized themselves on the Outer Rim.

6. DOCTOR PERSHING

Pershing (Omid Abtahi) played a significant role in Season 1, but we last saw him a while ago. However, he will return in Season 3 of The Mandalorian. This image depicts him riding in a robot taxi on a planet that resembles Coruscant. We still do not know what he is up to, but we suspect it involves cloning, Snoke, and possibly Emperor Palpatine.

7. THE DYNAMIC DUO RETURNS

mandalorian season 3

Grogu and Mando return to Nevarro, where their Season 1 journey begins. Greef Karga (Carl Weathers), whose attire suggests he has been elevated to a higher leadership position on the planet, greets them a second later. It is unknown why Mando has returned to Nevarro, but he likely needs assistance with something.

Final Words

The Mandalorian Season 3 Trailer was an exciting glimpse at what’s to come. We were introduced to two new characters, one of which is assumed by many to be the popular Ahsoka Tano. We also learned about a possible confrontation between Din Djarin and Boba Fett and some hints at a much larger galactic conflict that our heroes may soon find themselves involved in.
