When will they reveal The Equalizer 3? The Equalizer, a staple of the ’80s television landscape, was given a modern makeover by director Antoine Fuqua and actor Denzel Washington in 2014. While critics were mixed on the violent and stylish action film, it was a box office smash, making $190 million worldwide on a budget of under $62 million.
With those kinds of box office returns, you can count on at least one more sequel. The Equalizer 2 was released in 2018, and it “stunned” (as the youth of today say) at the box office. Even if it was certain to happen that Washington’s vigilante Robert McCall would return for another adventure, the first sequel is still four years away. When can we expect to see The Equalizer 3?
We have done extensive web research to learn as much as possible about McCall’s upcoming journey as possible. The release date, storyline summary, and cast list for The Equalizer 3 are all included here. Although the project is still in its infancy, McCall insists that the focus should be on “progress, not perfection.”
The Equalizer 3 Release Date
On September 1, 2023, The Equalizer 3 will be released. Robert McCall’s third adventure has had a long journey to the big screen.
After The Equalizer 2 came out in 2018, Fuqua began dropping hints about a third adventure, but he got sidetracked by filming the science fiction film Infinite for Paramount Plus and the crime drama The Guilty for Netflix.
In January of 2022, Sony confirmed the picture will be produced, and both Washington and Fuqua would be back for it.
Who else will be in the Equalizer 3 cast?
As we previously noted, Washington is reprising the role of Robert McCall, a former Marine and Defense Intelligence Agency agent who now acts as a vigilante protector for people unable to defend themselves. His day job was working at a DIY store in the previous movie, but in The Equalizer 2, he was a Lyft driver (an American competitor to Uber).
It’s unclear what type of mundane day job he’ll have in the third movie. Fanning’s function is yet unknown.
It’s quite improbable that any characters from the second movie would appear, but Ashton Sanders, who played Miles, the young artist who Robert likes, may make a cameo.
All additional cast information has thus far been kept under wraps. Richard Wenk, who wrote the second Equalizer movie and is now writing the forthcoming Kraven the Hunter movie for DC/Warner Bros., will write the screenplay.
Naturally, Fuqua is back to helm the third movie. He has already been considering the prospect of a second sequel in 2018, and we can’t fathom an Equalizer movie under anybody else’s direction.
What Is The Equalizer 3 Plot?
For The Equalizer 3, no particular storyline information has yet been made public. By their very nature, The Equalizer movies are a series, with each new episode introducing a fresh case for McCall to solve.
As a result, at this early stage of production, it is nearly hard to predict what the movie could be about. Given that, it is safe to assume that McCall will use violence liberally in an effort to assist a person who is less privileged than himself.
We also know that Fuqua stated in 2018 that he would like to take McCall outside of the US if he could, so perhaps The Equalizer’s upcoming chapter would feature more traveling. It appears like Fuqua achieved his desire when he stated that the movie was being shot in Italy in a recent interview with /Film.
“We’re shooting it in Italy, so that’d be fun,” he said. “We’re going to scout now. Sardinia probably shows up somewhere up the Amalfi Coast. Also, trying to find some small villages, seaside villages, things like that, and then we’ll be in Sicily and Naples.”
