Pacific Rim 3 Release Date Rumors Explored: When Will It Release? Latest Updates 2022

We’re here to break some major news about Pacific Rim 3, which is now experiencing a great deal of audience anticipation. In addition to being one of the most intriguing franchises to report on at the moment, Pacific Rim also stands out for the positive reception it has received from fans for its ambitious plot and the fact that, despite only two films having been released so far, everyone is eagerly awaiting the release of Pacific Rim 3.

Be sure to highlight the fact that viewers have voiced their approval by saying things like, “The Pacific Rim franchise comes in as similar to the Transformers franchise,” and, “The Pacific Rim franchise stands out as the franchise with mixing brawn with the brains along the way,” among other things.

No plans exist for Guillermo del Toro to return Pacific Rim3.

Following the original film’s (considering its enormous budget) somewhat meager performance, Warner Bros. and Legendary began planning a sequel. It took Del Toro a while to create, and he expected to direct his own “Pacific Rim 2.” Unfortunately, timing ended up being a problem. Del Toro revealed to Collider in 2017 that he finally decided to shoot “The Shape of Water” instead, which went on to win the Best Picture, Oscar. The director remarked:

“The timing started to suck. I had this little movie that I wanted to do—The Shape of Water—very, very much. At one point it was Justice League Dark or Pacific Rim, I said, ‘Let’s go to Pacific Rim.’ The reality is they said, ‘We’re gonna need to postpone,’ because they were changing hands—Legendary was going to be sold to China, to a Chinese company [called the Wanda Group]. They said, ‘We’ve gotta wait nine months and I said, ‘I’m not waiting nine months, I’m shooting a movie,’ and I went and shot [The Shape of Water] and we chose Steven DeKnight.”

After a sabbatical, filmmakers occasionally return to franchises. Although he did hint (from the perspective of a fan) that possibly “Pacific Rim” and the MonsterVerse, which houses the current “Godzilla” and “King Kong” films, share the same place, del Toro has made it clear on Twitter that he has no such intentions. The filmmaker noted:

“I personally love seeing the Neon, Sea battles, building demolition, etc because secretly -maybe- the PAC RIM Universe co-exists in the LEGENDARY Kaijuverse and, perhaps, one day they can rumble!”

But in the next tweet, del Toro made it clear that he was only talking as a fan and had no plans to return. So don’t get your hopes up.

Pacific Rim 3 would have been the beginning of a huge crossover.

Warner Bros. and Legendary have said that “Pacific Rim 3” is not in the works. That makes sense, since “Uprising” didn’t do very well with critics or in the marketplace. But tentative plans had been made for something big, as director Steven S. DeKnight told the press. On Twitter, he said that del Toro’s idea would have turned out to be right in the end:

If DeKnight’s idea for “Pacific Rim 3” had come true, the movie’s monsters and Jaegers would have joined forces with those of Godzilla and King Kong at the end. We don’t know how that would have happened, but it would have been a big deal, both literally and figuratively. Sadly, this is not something we are likely to ever see.

Netflix to the Rescue

“Pacific Rim: The Black,” an anime show on Netflix that takes place in this universe, came out in 2021. Fans liked the show, and it was watched by enough people on the streaming service for it to be renewed. So there will be a second season of the show at some point. Also, Legendary has put out a number of comic books set in this world, like “Pacific Rim: Tales from Year Zero.”

Even though there won’t be a movie (at least for now), it’s clear that there’s still some gas in the tank, and Legendary wants to keep the franchise going in some way. So people who wanted to see “Pacific Rim 3” are not entirely out of luck, not by any means.

FAQ About Pacific Rim

  • Is Pacific Rim 2 a flop?

Despite a staggering $63.5 million opening weekend — roughly $20 million more than the previous Pacific Rim — the film’s popularity gradually waned and it only made $250,000 in its last weekend of release. Pacific Rim Uprising did not fare well at the international box office.

  • What went wrong with Pacific Rim?

The opening sequence of Pacific Rim was far too lengthy and served less as an audience hook than as an expository dump. The world’s history might have been spread out more evenly throughout the movie. CinemaSins claims that viewers had to wait 17 minutes into the picture before the action began.
