The Empress (Die Kaiserin) is a German historical drama series that started to premiere in 2022. Devrim Lingnau plays Empress Elisabeth of Austria, while Philip Froissant plays her husband, Emperor Franz Joseph, in this biopic. The first episode of the series premiered on Netflix on September 29, 2022. For the course of two weeks, it was Netflix’s second most-watched series globally, and it finished 2022 as the sixth most popular non-English series.

When will season two of The Empress premiere?
The Empress has proven itself worthy of a season two renewal. As per the Deadline, a production order has been placed, and pre-production has begun. As with many other Netflix shows, its renewal was tied to viewership, and so long as enough people clicked “next episode,” the show would return. While season two has been announced, sadly we don’t have any release date confirmed yet.

The program has been renewed for a second season, and that’s all we know right now. Thus, the second season’s cast has not been announced officially. However, taking into account the fact that most of the season one main character will most likely return for season two:

What will be the plot for Season 2 of The Empress?
In the final act of The Empress, Elisabeth is locked up inside the palace gates for violating royal protocol. Elisabeth finds out she is pregnant, just as Franz tells her to leave. The Empress, watched by Franz and Sophia, announces her pregnancy to the throng Are the people going to accept her after what she does? If she were to forgive Franz? Sophie is expecting; what are her future plans?

We do know, provided the drama stays close to the historical record, that the Archduchess will continue to make Elisabeth’s life inside the palace gates a living hell. About ten months after her marriage to the Duke, the Empress gave birth to a daughter whom she named Archduchess Sophie of Austria.
The older Archduchess named the infant after herself and took full custody of the child, prohibiting Elisabeth from caring for or breastfeeding her own kid. Another daughter was born to Elisabeth a year later, and rumor has it that Sophie wrote a vicious pamphlet condemning her son-in-law for failing to sire a male heir. According to sources, these topics are expected in season two.
