King were among of his most significant musical inspirations, in that order. His lifelong passion for the Spanish guitar originated as a result of his exposure to classical Spanish music. His musical approach was influenced by psychedelic soul singer Janis Joplin in the late 1960s and early 1970s, he said. He drew inspiration from classical music for a number of his compositions, such as the piano ballad The Answer. Sambora can also play a variety of other instruments, including drums, bass, saxophone, and piano. A Catholic Youth Organization dance was when he made his theatrical debut as a teenager.
