In his letter of congratulations to the winners, William said, “You are part of an inspiring group of young people who are changing the world through your actions, and I admire you so much for that.” “Thank you for caring, being brave, and being so determined. You are my mother’s legacy, and I know she would be so proud of all of you.”

“I think there’s no better way to honor her life and work than to honor amazing people who give so much of their time and energy to helping others,” he said.

The Diana Award was made in her honor. According to the Diana Award website, it is “the most prestigious award a young person between the ages of 9 and 25 can get for their social action or humanitarian work.” It is also the award for young people that have been around the longest.

Harry also shared a video message about how his mother’s legacy had affected him and how he still follows her lead today.

Harry said, “My mother taught me and all of us to speak up and fight for a better world.” “My mother’s voice is even louder in my life now that I’m married and a parent. You have all kept her voice alive by showing the world that even small things can make a difference. How kindness is still important and how we can make the world a better place if we choose to.”

The brothers’ announcements come about a month after Harry and Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, made their first public appearance with the royal family at Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee. This was their first public appearance with the family since they stopped being senior working royals.
