That was a lot to take in, but now Grinding Gear Games has revealed the full title of their upcoming major update: Path of Exile: Siege of the Atlas in its entirety.

Though we recommend watching the trailer below for a more in-depth look at the changes that will be implemented in the game, the bottom line is that this expansion introduces new pinnacle bosses, the Archnemesis Challenge league, and a reworked endgame system.

As previously stated, the developers have reworked Path of Exile’s endgame to increase its depth while removing the busywork that was present in the game’s previous iteration of the game.

In a statement, Bex, the Community Manager, said, “We’ve removed the Atlas’ regions and replaced them with a new Atlas-wide passive skill tree that allows you to specialize in playing whatever type of content you prefer while increasing both the difficulty and the reward.”

Now, we recommend that you watch this new trailer for the complete lowdown on the game as well as a look at the new expansion:

As we come to the end of the year 2021, we wanted to give you a preview of what to expect when Path of Exile’s next major expansion launches at the start of 2022. Path of Exile 3.17 Update Confirmed Changes

Now that we’ve reached the year 2022, Grinding Gear Games has provided some additional information on what to expect when the PC version of Path of Exile 3.17 is released later this year. Unfortunately, this is not good news for anyone who has been enjoying Scourge so far.

As we previously stated, we expect to release our 3.17 expansion in early February, which means that the current Scourge Challenge League will come to an end relatively soon after it begins. It begs the question of whether or not Scourge will become a core Path of Exile mechanic.

The short answer is that it does not. We do not currently have any plans to bring Scourge back to the game. Even if it does return at some point in the future, we have no current indications as to when that might be or what Scourge would look like as core gameplay content.

Please remember that there are only a few weeks left to finish any challenges left unfinished in this league before we say goodbye to The Last of Us and send the Scourge back to where they came from. Originally posted by Natalia GGG.

path of exile 3.17 Update Add ‘Hard Mode

The developer, Grinding Gear Games, acknowledged that there has been a demand from fans for a new ‘hard mode’ prior to the beginning of the year. Although the developers stated that testing for this new experimental mode had been put on hold, they also stated that it would not be available until after the release of the 3.17 Update. The following is what the developers said to fans:

  • We had previously stated that we would begin testing prior to the release of 3.17, but due to the fact that we have prioritized the development of 3.17, testing will now take place after the release of 3.17, at a time to be determined.

As of this writing, there are no specific details on when this hard mode might be released, but we could learn more about it during the team’s next Livestream.
