Horizon Forbidden West Pc Release Date Confirmed, Gameplay & Strategy Guide

Aloy is set to return for more adventures with the mechanical dinosaurs in Horizon Forbidden West, but will she be able to make it all the way to the lands of the PC in time?

Horizon Forbidden West is the highly anticipated follow-up to Sony’s massively successful Horizon Zero Dawn video game. It is likely that Aloy will return in a new adventure that will land it on lists of the best-rated PlayStation 5 games of the year. The first title was so successful that it came as a surprise when Sony decided to release it on Steam as a way to see how tentpole titles would fare on the PC platform in order to test the waters.

As a result of the game’s success on PC, players have begun to wonder if Horizon Forbidden West will be released on the same platform. Unfortunately, this is not good news for those who prefer to play their games on a computer rather than a gaming console.

Greysun Morales made the following update on December 2nd, 2021: As of right now, Horizon Forbidden West is shaping up to be one of the most eagerly anticipated PlayStation 5 titles set to launch in early 2022. Now that a release date for the open-world action game has been set, PlayStation 5 owners only have a few more months to look forward to exploring a fictional post-apocalyptic version of the west coast. Those hoping for a Horizon Forbidden West PC port, on the other hand, should know that Sony has not confirmed such a port. It’s possible that Forbidden West will be released on PC a few years after its PlayStation debut, similar to how Zero Dawn was released on the platform. For the time being, the game will only be available on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.

Horizon Forbidden West release date: confirmed

Horizon Forbidden West game director Mathijs de Jonge revealed the new release date for the upcoming adventure during Gamescom Opening Night Live 2021. The game will now be released on February 18, 2022.

The game’s release date has been pushed back from its initial 2021 release window as a result of this change. Jonge talked about how the team’s work has “hugely impacted the global pandemic” while it was developing the game: “We’ve been adjusting to new workflows and other challenges,” Jorge explained, “while also ensuring the safety of our team and prioritizing a healthy work-life balance for everyone.”

In addition, Sony and Guerrilla have confirmed that Horizon Forbidden West will be available on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 when it launches next year.

Horizon Forbidden West gameplay & Strategy Guide

Aloy still has her trusty spear and bow – complete with a variety of arrow types – to use against her new adversaries, but she has some new toys to play with as well.

In an interview with the PlayStation Blog, Ben McCaw, narrative director at Guerrilla Games, explains how Aloy will be given new tools to aid her on her journey.

“Her climbing speed is increased, allowing her to escape trouble more quickly; the Shieldwing allows her to safely descend from great heights (or surprise enemies from above), and the Diving Mask opens up a whole new underwater world for her to explore. Aside from that, she has received significant improvements to her Focus, which now displays areas that allow free climbing as well as the ability to override more machines for mounts or combat.”

The vast array of weapons and equipment available to players will provide them with “tactic and choice” when it comes to dealing with the challenges of this new world, according to McCaw.

Grapple points will now be found all over the world, allowing Aloy to climb and move around more easily in his new surroundings. Some machine types can also be used for traversal, and the ability to leap into the water only adds to the verticality of the experience.

Free climbing is now available as well, which when combined with other abilities such as grappling, swimming, and more, allows Aloy to be more strategic in both exploration and battle.

We are extremely excited about the free climbing system in Horizon Forbidden West, as it has allowed us to make large sections of the terrain climbable (where it makes visual and narrative sense) in a way that was previously not possible in Horizon Zero Dawn.” A recent PlayStation blog post by David McMullen, Lead Systems Designer at Guerrilla, explained that rocky surfaces in these areas are freely climbable without the use of tribal handholds.

Horizon Forbidden West soundtrack

Guerilla and Sony have made the first track from the Horizon Forbidden West soundtrack available on a variety of streaming services – the track that was featured in the game’s first trailer – available for download. The score, titled Promise of the West, was written by prominent Dutch video game composer Joris de Man, and it’s a dynamic mix of sounds that builds to a thumping, epic conclusion at conclusion.
