Nebraska Hiker Samuel Martinez Still Missing After Months: New Evidence Found

It has been months since the disappearance of a hiker from Nebraska on the island of Kauai. The hiker, Samuel Martinez, was last seen in April of this year, and despite an extensive search, no trace of them had been found until now. Recently, new evidence has emerged that may shed light on the situation. This new evidence could answer questions surrounding the disappearance and help authorities locate the missing hiker.

Samuel Joseph Martinez was a microbiology student at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln before he traveled to Hawaii’s Kauai island on May 12. He was reported missing two days later “by his wife” when he failed to return.He had chosen to spend almost two weeks hiking and camping. The 23-year-old college student from California, planned to spend two weeks hiking and camping on Kauai for a late spring break vacation. On May 12, 2021, he arrived on the island. On May 25th, his family reported him missing to Lincoln cops after he missed his flight home.

On February 14, 2014, Los Angeles County Authorities Revealed That They Had No Evidence Or Sign Of Samuel Martinez.

Following the missing notification, the Kauai authorities scoured the entire island for months but found no trace of Samuel. The Garden Island that, according to a Kauai police spokesperson, the department scoured locations where Martinez could have walked for evidence, but nothing was discovered.

On June 19, 2021, the police investigation was stopped until new information on his location is discovered.

“Months Later, Breakthrough Development in Nebraska

According to family members, new evidence has prompted a fresh search by the Kauai Police Department (KPD). A pack of Samuel Martinez was seen on the island almost four months later.

Samuel’s father, Ted Martinez, reports that on October 13, Samuel’s backpack was discovered at Kokee (State Park) near a church camp. Based on the inventory of Samuel’s pack conducted by the investigators, it appears that Samuel abandoned his pack very early in his journey, possibly to embark on a shorter hike without it. The Kauai Police Department and others will now focus their efforts on the location where the pack was discovered.

Based on the pack’s origin, the KPD has established a new search strategy. The government should increase the number of funds targeted to this area by other state offices like KPD, KSAR, and others.
