Denise and Jim Rapinoe gave birth to Megan Rapinoe on July 5, 1985, in Redding, California. She has five brothers and sisters, including a fraternal twin named Rachael. Rapinoe was motivated to start playing soccer by another sibling, her elder brother Brian.
