Lola Chantrelle Mitchell (August 7, 1979 – January 1, 2023), better known by her stage as Gangsta Boo, was a Memphis, Tennessee-born American rapper. She was the second female member of Memphis-based hip hop group Three 6 Mafia, following K-9. She quit the group and label in 2002, months after the release of her second album, Both Worlds *69, due to money conflicts and record promotion concerns. 

Subsequently, Gangsta Boo released mixtapes with artists such as La Chat and Yelawolf, in addition to various solo efforts. In her later years, she collaborated with musicians like Eminem, Latto, GloRilla, and Run the Jewels. Gangsta Boo has been called a pioneer of southern female rap music.

Gangsta Boo Cause Of Death

Lola Chantrelle Mitchell, also known as Gangsta Boo, has passed away. The rapper and former Three 6 Mafia member were 43 years old. According to Fox 13 Memphis, the Memphis-born celebrity was discovered dead on January 1 at approximately 4 p.m. (local time). 

DJ Paul, a founding member of Three 6 Mafia, shared a photo of Gangsta Boo without a message following the news of her passing. According to TMZ, that was told by sources close to the rapper, whose actual name was Lola Mitchell, that her death was drug-related; however, an autopsy is pending, and the official cause of death has not been disclosed.

The night before, Gangster Boo was at a performance with her brother, who required hospitalization due to an overdose, according to the sources. Just hours before her death, Gangsta Boo shared a video on Instagram with the message, “Some of the activities I engaged in 2022! I stepped out of my comfort zone with great frequency! 2023 go be 23’n!”
