Former Republican state lawmaker Geoff Diehl lost to Healey despite having Trump’s backing. Her victory gave the Governor’s mansion back to the Democrats after they had been without it for eight years due to the Republican party’s misstep of not running for re-election after the term of popular governor Charlie Baker, who had previously declined to seek a second term.

Her current position is an associate justice on the Appeals Court of Massachusetts. She started her education with a BA from Rutgers in 1982, continued it with a Ph.D. from Oxford in 1987, and capped it off with a Juris Doctorate from Columbia in 1989. As soon as Gabrielle Wolohojian could, she took a job as a law clerk for Judge Rya Zobel of the Massachusetts District Court and afterward for Judge Bailey Aldrich of the Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.
