Chris Martin’s lung infection compels to cancel Coldplay shows

Coldplay had to put off their Brazil tour because their lead singer, Chris Martin, was sick. According to reports, the 45-year-old singer has a severe lung infection and has been told to rest for at least three weeks.

The group behind the hit song “Viva La Vida” posted on Twitter to say that their plans had changed. The band said in a statement, “Due to a serious lung infection, Chris has been told by his doctor to rest for the next three weeks.”

In a post, they said, “We are so sorry for any disappointment and trouble this may cause, and we are so grateful for your understanding during this tough time when Chris’s health has to come first.” The band was ready for their “Music of the Spheres” world tour.

There were eight shows planned for Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. The show will now be moved to the beginning of 2023. When they got together in 1996, the band quickly became a worldwide hit.

As of 2021, they have sold a total of 100 million copies of their first eight albums. This makes them one of the most famous music groups of all time. Even though the group started as a rock band, over the years, they have tried out different styles like pop rock, pop, R&B/Soul, synth-pop, and so on.

Martin, the lead singer, has made headlines for more than just his high notes. The singer’s string of high-profile relationships with Hollywood stars like Gywneth Paltrow, Jennifer Lawrence, and Dakota Johnson has often made the news.

He was married to Paltrow for more than ten years until he announced a “conscious uncoupling” in 2014 and a friendly divorce in 2016. Moses is their son, and they also have a daughter (Apple).

He has also been with other musicians, like Dua Lipa and Kylie Minogue, with whom he made the song “Homesick” in 2017. Coldplay has a lot of fans in India as well.

Martin made headlines when he sang “Vande Mataram” live at the end of the Global Citizen Festival India concert in 2016 with the great musician A.R. Rahman. He also wowed the crowd with his own version of the hit song “Channa Mereya” from Karan Johar’s movie “Ae Dil Hai Mushkil.”

In 2015, he surprised his Indian fans with a show that was not planned. The rock star was having dinner with music composer Vishal Dadlani and members of the now-defunct comedy group AIB—Tanmay Bhat, Gursimran Khamba, and Rohan Joshi—at the Summer House Cafe in Delhi when he decided to give an impromptu performance for the crowd.

Chris Martin was told by his doctor to rest. After Martin was diagnosed, he was “put under strict doctor’s orders to rest for the next three weeks,” the band wrote.

“We are working as quickly as possible to set the new dates, and we will let you know more in the next few days… “We are so glad you understand that Chris’s health has to come first during this tough time,” the statement said.

“We are hopeful that Chris will be healthy again after the medical break, and we are looking forward to getting back on the road soon,” they said and thanked fans for being patient. Fans rushed to the section for comments to wish Martin well.

One person wrote: “Christ, no. I am sending you lots of love and healing energy. Also, brazil, I am so sorry for yall. I know you will get to see and do more, and the wait will be worth it!” Someone else wrote, “Please, please, please take the time to get well fully. We love you guys!”

Their next live show will be in Argentina on October 25. They should play ten shows there.
