Fans of the television show “Archer” will be treated to yet another trip to the danger zone. According to Deadline, the animated spy comedy “Archer,” created by Adam Reed, has been officially renewed for a third season on FX Networks. With Sterling Archer as its protagonist, we get to know the world’s greatest secret agent, who also happens to be extremely cynical and unprofessional, and perhaps even an alcoholic. Currently, Archer is employed by the International Secret Intelligence Service (ISIS), which is led by his short-tempered mother, Malory, from whom Archer most likely inherited his alcoholism and dependence. Archer and his incompetent team of espionage agents and support staff embark on espionage missions around the world, which, more often than not, go horribly wrong and result in hilarious mishaps and blunders.
Since its debut in 2009, “Archer” has become a fan favorite among television viewers, and the series has ranked highly on lists of the greatest cartoons of all time published by TV Guide and Entertainment Weekly, among other publications.
The fact that Reed planned to end “Archer” after Season 10 was likely a surprise to fans when they heard the news in 2016. (via TV Line). Fortunately, thanks to an increase in viewership from Season 10 to 11, as reported by Variety, this did not turn out to be the case, and more sexual innuendos and one-liners can be expected in Season 13 of “Archer.”
“Archer” will return for a 13th season, and here’s what we know so far about the show.
Archer Renewed for Season 13
Season 13 of Archer has been officially renewed for 2022. THE DAILY UNITED TIMES (LOS ANGELES, CA, USA, September 28, 2021) It was announced today by Nick Grad, President, Original Programming, FX, that the Emmy Award-winning animated comedy Archer will return for a 13th season on the network’s FXX channel. Similarly to the current 12th season, the new eight-episode season will premiere on FXX and be available to stream the following day on FX on Hulu and will be available in 2022.

Archer Season 13 Release Date
Season 13 of “Archer” is expected to premiere in the not-too-distant future, but there is currently no set release date for the season. According to the previously mentioned Deadline report, Season 13 will premiere on FXX sometime in 2022 and will consist of an eight-episode season. Beyond that, the article doesn’t provide much information, but based on the show’s previous seasons, we can make an educated guess as to when Season 13 of “Archer” will premiere.

It appears that new seasons of “Archer” typically premiere around a year after the previous season concludes, so with Season 12 having just concluded in October, we can expect that Season 13 will premiere sometime between September and November of 2022, depending on when Season 12 concluded. There have been some exceptions to this release schedule, such as when Season 11’s premiere was delayed by more than a year as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States. With any luck, the pandemic will not have a significant impact on the production of “Archer” Season 13, and we will be able to see the animated spy comedy on our screens sooner rather than later.
Archer Season 13 Cast
It’s safe to assume that the majority of the gang will return for Season 13 of “Archer,” just as they have done in some shape or form in each of the previous seasons. The cast will most likely include Archer’s ex-girlfriend and fellow spy Lana (Aisha Taylor), the geeky accountant turned spy Cyril (Chris Parnell), the zany office assistant Cheryl (Judy Greer), and the openly gay agent Ray (Judy Greer), among others (Adam Reed). Also, there’s absolutely no reason to believe that Lucky Yates, the voice actor who portrays the maniacal Dr. Krieger, and Amber Nash, who portrays the incredibly funny Pam, won’t be back for Season 13.
Unfortunately, one character will not be returning in Season 13, and that character is Malory Archer, who has been voiced by the wonderful Jessica Walter since Season 1. After she passed away unexpectedly in March 2021, fans were shocked, but thankfully FX was able to incorporate her voice into Season 12 of the show. After a fitting and emotional conclusion in the Season 12 finale, Walter’s character Malory is last seen retired and relaxing on a beach with her husband Ron (played by Walter’s real-life husband Ron Leibman), who is also seen hand in hand with her.
Additionally, in addition to the main cast, there will undoubtedly be numerous guest stars throughout the season, as “Archer” is known for having some of the best guest voice actors on television.
Archer Season 13 Plot
It’s difficult to predict what Season 13 of “Archer” will bring because the series as a whole has proven to be, well, unexpected. To get from being the world’s top secret agent to becoming a drug smuggler, Archer first went into business for himself as a private investigator. Then, at one point, we get to see three seasons’ worth of Archer’s comatic dreams, which take us from a 1920s Los Angeles crime scene to a spaceship in space, among other places. Despite the fact that nothing is certain in the world of “Archer,” we have a good idea of what to expect in the upcoming season of the show.
Since Seasons 11 and 12 return “Archer” to the spy comedy roots that first drew fans to the show in the first place, it’s probably safe to say that the show’s out-of-this-world storylines have come to an end on the show. The last time we saw Archer and the gang, they were competing for espionage contracts with the world’s newest spy agency, the International Intelligence Agency (IIA), in order to restore ISIS to its former glory. Afterward, in the season’s final episode, it’s revealed that ISIS has been sold to IIA and that Malory has passed the “leadership” torch to Archer.
Our best guess is that Archer will attempt to reestablish ISIS in some form under his leadership, as it’s difficult to imagine Archer and his coworkers willingly working for IIA under any circumstances. Of course, this will almost certainly result in a slew of new misadventures for the gang, but fans will have to wait until Season 13 of “Archer” premieres in 2022 to find out what happens.
