Since 1999, Anthony Anderson Has Been Married To Alvina Stewart.

Anthony Anderson and Alvina Stewart were married for more than 20 years, so they were with each other for a very long time. Many sources have said that the two met in high school, but in an interview on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon in 2018, Anderson confirmed that he met Stewart while he was at Howard University. He also said that he had to drop out of school during his junior year because he didn’t have enough money (he’s taking classes now and hopes to get his degree in 2022).

Anderson and Stewart have two kids together. Kyra is their daughter, and Nathan is their son.

Kyra works as a doula, according to her Instagram page. She lives in Houston, Texas. Nathan, who also went to Howard University, wants to become an actor as his father did. He has already been on several TV shows, including Richie Rich, Black-ish, and All About the Washingtons.

Anderson says that when he and Stewart were raising their kids in Hollywood, they tried their best not to spoil them. “I grew up in Compton, which is in Los Angeles, so when I became an actor, I overcompensated because of where I came from,” Anderson told Yahoo! News in 2015.

“I wanted to give [my kids] everything I didn’t have. But I can’t treat my kids too well. I had to stop and think, “Wait, am I making a monster?” I can’t keep giving you things for anything.’ My kids have schoolwork, chores, and community service.

Stewart Filed For Divorce In 2015

In 2014, people started talking about Anderson and Stewart’s marriage. In September 2015, TMZ said that Stewart had asked her famous husband for a divorce. The report also said that the couple had stopped living together as of April 1, 2014. According to court papers, Stewart wanted to have primary physical custody of their kids and give Anderson “reasonable visitation” rights.

Anderson said that his wife helped him lose weight (he lost a whopping 47 pounds!) and change how he ate and worked out so that he could better deal with his type II diabetes. “My wife has become a gym rat, and she motivates me,” he told The Los Angeles Times in 2013. “My kids are also fit, which helps me keep going.”

The actor was told he had the disease in 2002, and for years he struggled to keep a healthy weight and way of life. “At first, I wasn’t in charge,” Anderson told Diabetes Voices in an interview in 2018. “Diabetes blindsided me.

When I was sick, I thought, “How am I going to deal with this?” But you must… Today, I’m more in charge of the things I choose to do. I feel like I have more control over my health by doing things like going to the gym and eating the right foods. It all comes down to making better choices.”

In 2016, The Couple Got Back Together.

The breakup in 2015 did not last forever. Stewart dropped her divorce suit in December 2016, and the couple was soon seen together at several Hollywood events, including the January 2017 Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards. “It’s fun,” Anderson told Entertainment Tonight during an interview on the SAG red carpet. “We haven’t been on a red carpet together in a while, but we’re here tonight, so we’re excited.”

At the 2017 Screen Actors Guild Awards, Alvina Stewart and Anthony Anderson were both there.

Anderson and Stewart didn’t say why they decided to get back together, but it’s clear that they were willing to do whatever it took to help each other through hard times. In an interview with Elle magazine in 2016, the star of “Black-ish” said that he often used his parents as models for how to handle important relationships in life.

“Every relationship will have its ups and downs. Anderson said, “It’s a team.” “Sometimes, when you work as a team, you all win. As a team, you sometimes all lose at the same time. My parents always talked things out and never went to bed mad. They might not have agreed with each other, but that didn’t stop them from sleeping peacefully together at night.”

Stewart Filed For Divorce Again In 2022

It looks like the couple wasn’t able to make things right again. On March 25, 2022, Stewart asked Anderson for a second time to end their marriage. She didn’t put down a date for when they broke up, so it’s not clear when they did. People got a copy of some court papers that showed Stewart wanted Anderson to pay her legal fees and give her spousal support.

When Anderson answered Stewart’s petition a few days later, he first asked for a breakup of the marriage instead of a divorce. Anderson did put down February 25 as the date of the breakup and said that they couldn’t get along anymore. He asked that the issue of alimony is put on hold and that each side pays for their lawyer.

However, in June 2022, Anderson agreed to pay Stewart alimony and back pay for the months before the settlement. The couple is also selling their home in California, but they have signed a 12-month lease together so that Stewart can find another place to live.

After more than 20 years of marriage, it’s a shame that Anderson and Stewart are no longer together. They are probably doing what they think is best for themselves and will hopefully be able to get along.
