However, most of these will likely not be seen as the official cast of Marvel’s Thunderbolt was announced at D23 Expo 2022. These are Contessaval (Julia Louis-Dreyfus), who could very well be the leader of Thunderbolt, Elena Belova (Florence Pugh), Red Guardian (David Harbour), Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko), John Walker/U.

Agent (Wyatt Russell), Ava/Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen), and, of course, Bucky Barnes. Other characters from the comics may make cameos or be added later, but for now, this is the core lineup of the MCU Thunderbolts team.

Thunderbolts Movie Story

As of now, details of the Thunderbolt’s story have yet to be revealed, and it’s not yet clear if there will be a script. Zemo’s ending in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will apparently feature more of him in the future, so there’s a good chance the MCU will adapt the team’s version of the origin story from the comics, with Zemo dressed up as a hero.

With Contessa Val now on board and Zemo appearing to play both sides (though not yet announced at this time), Marvel has confirmed the villain’s origins. More likely to give up and straight to the anti-hero or other hero’s team. It is grace to please. It’s unclear what to expect, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Disney+ shows see a story or two from the Thunderbolt movies.

Filming on the film is set to begin in the summer of 2023, with an official release date so far of July 26, 2024. Marvel’s current project roster and release schedule are full.
