Westworld Season 4: Release Date, First Looks, Cast – All We Know So Far

Westworld Season 2 cast members Jeffrey Wright as Bernard and Evan Rachel Wood as Dolores Season 4 of Westworld will feature new Bernard story details, according to Jeffrey Wright. A number of high-profile projects have been undertaken by the actor recently, beginning with his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut as the Watcher in the animated series What If…?, followed by his return to the role of Felix Leiter in No Time to Die. In addition, he portrays Lieutenant James Gordon in Matt Reeves’ The Batman, which will be released in theatres on March 4, 2019. Westworld fans, on the other hand, are looking forward to Wright’s return as Bernard Lowe in HBO’s increasingly cerebral science fiction series.

Westworld is a television series created by Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan, the brother and frequent collaborator of the acclaimed filmmaker Christopher Nolan, and based on the 1973 film of the same name directed by Michael Crichton, author of Jurassic Park and The Lost World. A futuristic Wild West-themed amusement park, which serves as the show’s titular setting, welcomes visitors with the help of animatronic androids known as hosts. In later seasons, the plot has expanded beyond the confines of the park, with season 3 taking place entirely outside the park as hosts have achieved sentience and have integrated themselves into a dystopian society ruled by an omniscient artificial intelligence known as Rehoboam.

Westworld Season 4 Release Date

Unfortunately, as of Feb 2022, we still do not have a confirmed release date for Westworld season 4, which is a disappointment. However, we now know, thanks to Jeffrey Wright, that filming will take place in June 2021, which is a promising development.

HBO has shared teaser clips of what’s to come as part of its massive promotional trailer for streaming service HBO Max, which suggests that the episodes will be released at some point this year.

A two-year gap has been established between seasons, with seasons 1, 2, and 3 being released in 2016, 2018, and 2020, respectively. Seasons 4 and 5 will be released in 2020.

In contrast to the first season, which premiered in the autumn, seasons two and three were released in the spring, with premiere dates in late March or early April. Keep your fingers crossed for around that time, as it appears to be the show’s pattern at the moment!

Westworld season 4 cast

The cast of Westworld has a better deal than the average person. In many cases, even if their characters are killed off, the actors can often reappear in a new host body, which means that even those who died in season three could reappear later on.

We already know for certain that some of the cast members will be returning thanks to the HBO sizzle reel. Thandiwe Newton, who portrays Maeve Millay, is also in the cast, as is Jeffrey Wright, who portrays Bernard Lowe / Arnold Weber, and Aaron Paul, who portrays Caleb Nichols.

Other celebrities that are anticipated to return include:

  • T.E.S.A. Thompson in the role of Charlotte Hale/Dolores Abernathy
  • Ashley Stubbs is played by Luke Hemsworth.
  • Lee Sizemore is played by Simon Quarterman.
  • Hector Escaton is played by Rodrigo Santoro.

Ed Harris has returned in yet another twist. However, as is characteristic of Westworld, the Man in Black was slain and replaced with a host controlled by Thompson’s “Halores,” which implies Harris will be back for more in round four of the series.

“I have no idea what they have in store for me,” Newton stated at The Paley Center for Media (via Looper): “I know I’m paired with Tessa [Thompson], but I’m not sure what they have in mind.” Hopefully, we will be able to inflict some appropriate harm.”

However, she seemed to be enjoying the scripts for season four that she has seen so far.

“It’s really nice, man,” Newton exclaimed (via ComicBook). “For me, no truly, for me, it’s got all the best elements from one, two, and three are here. It’s quite well-written, and there’s something interesting about the pandemic.

“It’s not exactly true, but I believe it has fed us all in some manner, in the sense that our lives are now dependent on art in a different way.” “I mean, our very lives are dependent on art because art is being taken away from us,” says the artist.

For Evan Rachel Wood, who played the original Dolores Abernathy, the future appears to be clouded by uncertainty.

During an appearance on the Variety and iHeart podcast The Big Ticket, Wood discussed her character’s demise. “I found out maybe midway through, or towards the end,” she said.

‘We really discover the arc of our characters episode by episode,’ says the writer. The opening of each season gives us a basic notion of where our characters are, what their purpose is, and then they let us figure things out for ourselves.

“After that, we learn as we go.” The fact that it is tough, but also thrilling, to work on is one of the reasons why I believe it is a challenging project to work on,” she stated. ‘As a result, [co-creator Jonathan Nolan] called me up and informed me of the situation.

Then he told her that she was going to die. Despite the fact that he was direct about it and a little ambiguous about other queries I had, he stated that “the Dolores that we know is no longer alive.”

Westworld season 4 plot

There has been a broad outline of what would happen since the beginning, and now that hosts have departed, season four could be their final outing in Westworld.

Is this true, then all bets are off as they fight against mankind is nearing its conclusion, and the final episodes of season four promise even more epic twists? Season three’s themes, as discussed by Nolan in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, may also apply to the upcoming fourth season.

In my opinion, it’s a major shift. They aren’t human, and that is what makes them so fascinating. It’s true that people have the same loops as the hosts, but in some ways, they’re tethered even more tightly, he stated.

There is no way human characters could withstand and survive a story like ours. The hosts have a distinct take on death, a different perspective on the subject.

For my part, I believe Dolores’ vision, as she’s outlined it, encompasses a more comprehensive set of objectives. They deal with the ultimate questions of life and death. They’ve been around for a very long time. What a great tale to get involved with at that level!

Additionally, Wright spoke to The Wrap’s Emmy magazine about Bernard’s season three ending, and how it will influence him in the future, following the season three conclusion.

After entering The Sublime, “Bernard appears to emerge from it with a little additional data,” according to him. He’s speaking more clearly than he has in the past, perhaps.

“Now, the question of when he comes out is a fairly straightforward one, in my opinion. I believe we find him when the plague has gone, emerging from The Sublime.

In the end, “he’s been properly vaccinated.” He’s eager to begin a new and more liberated life. In the meantime, he’s changed, and we don’t know where that will take him.

In addition, Nolan has talked about the impact The Man In Black will have on the show’s characters moving forward.

He told the Paley Center for Media, “I’m a great believer in being directed by irony.”

“[The Man in Black] ends up becoming this thing [a host] that he’s dominated for so long. “And on a visceral level, I just can’t wait to see Ed slaughter everyone.”

During this time, Newton hopes that the romance between Charlotte and Maeve will blossom (via Deadline).

‘Hale,’ as an extension of Dolores, fascinates me now. I mean, isn’t it fascinating, don’t you think? The fruit has fallen far from the tree, as the saying goes. Dolores’ children are “very interesting” since they “very rapidly remove themselves from her,” she claimed.

It all started with Hale clutching to her creator, Dolores, upset and distraught, and towards the end, she wanted to destroy Dolores. It’s a fascinating course of action. If Maeve is a part of that, I’m curious to see how she responds to it.

As for Maeve’s relationship with her boyfriend Caleb, it’s interesting because we’ve seen so little of it. It’s unlikely that Caleb will just carry on the task Dolores started.

Though why has Dolores placed him in such a position? ‘ Is she really so concerned about humanity’s need for a head of state? Why? Is it just a prank she’s playing on us? What if you decided to fly to a completely different planet and start causing havoc? Worlds within worlds,” I believe.

As Newton continued, “So, I’m talking to Lisa in general, in the beginning, all those years ago, they have stayed to their initial notion of where this is headed… Even if we wonder, “God, that character isn’t back and oh my God, why would they get rid of that?”, they’ve managed to keep it going.

That’s because they’re so in tune with their original goals. They aren’t swayed by the popularity of a show or the number of fans it has. “I appreciate that they’re going to stick to their guns and tell a tale that they’ve dreamed up for a long time.”
