True Detective’s first season, which starred Woody Harrelson, Matthew McConaughey, and Michelle Monaghan, was met with immediate critical acclaim. The season was quickly recognized as a cult classic after receiving five nominations for Emmys and two for Critics’ Choice Television Awards.
With Seasons 2 and 3, the producers have continued to raise the bar. HBO revealed in March 2022 that the popular program has been renewed for a fourth season, giving True Detective fans much to look forward to. When will Season 4 be available?
True Detective’s season 4 is presently being developed. What day will it be released?
HBO has not yet announced the release date for True Detective Season 4, but they have confirmed that Iceland will be the location for production. Early in June, Lopez posted Instagram pictures from behind the scenes of her and her “fearless production crew” researching locations in the Arctic. The new showrunner posted a photo on June 13 with the phrase “A selfie before traveling and starting prep.” Let’s compare that to after the wrap, shall we? Let’s begin.
Mahershala Ali was featured in True Detective Season 3, which was shot over the course of around six months and was finished in August 2018 in time for its January 2019 broadcast. Fans should anticipate Night Country to premiere around the middle of 2023 if Season 4 follows a similar schedule, but watch this space for an official announcement.
True Detective Season 4 Cast
Just over a month before HBO announced the fourth season, Deadline said that Jodie Foster would play Detective Liz Danvers and also be an executive producer on the next season of True Detective. Foster hasn’t been in a big TV role since 1975 when she was a child. This will be her first big role as an adult.

On June 28, HBO announced that Kali Reis will also be in True Detective. She will play Evangeline Navarro, Danvers’ partner in the police force. Reis is best known as a professional boxer. Her first role was in the independent film Catch the Fair One, which came out in 2021 and won her awards at the Tribeca Film Festival and the Film Independent Spirit Awards. Reis is also a motivational speaker and a strong supporter of the movement for indigenous women and girls who have gone missing or been killed. She shows young Native women how to fight back, both physically and verbally, when Native youth are picked on.
More news about the cast will be coming soon.
