A source tells PEOPLE that Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen have been living apart for “more than a month,” The couple has been together for a long time, but they have not seen each other in six weeks because Brady, 45, is back in the NFL and Bündchen, 42, is traveling.
One insider says, “Gisele is busy with her own life now and has spent time away from Tom in Miami and New York,” “During the season, they live separate lives.” says a second source.
Sources have told PEOPLE that the supermodel is upset about Brady’s decision to come out of retirement. She has said that she wants him to spend more time with their kids, Benjamin Rein, 12, and Vivian Lake, 9, as well as Brady’s 15-year-old son John Edward, who he has with his ex-wife Bridget Moynahan.
But a third person says that the famous football player always makes time for his family. The source says, “No other husband gets six months off a year to be totally devoted to just their family,” “And during the season, yes, he travels for games and trains, but he’s with his family a lot too.”
The couple owns a home in Miami’s posh Indian Creek Village that costs $17 million. The first source says, “They both want to live in Miami. They love it and have loads of friends there,” They also say, “I don’t think there is any formal separation at this point. They would like to work things out.”
Last month, Brady had been away from the Buccaneers for 11 days because he had to “deal with some personal things.” He told reporters about his absence after he got back: “Everyone has different things going on in their lives, and we all face different problems.
Man, I am 45 years old.
A lot is going on, so you just have to do the best you can to figure out life. You know, it is a process that never ends.” The man who has won seven Super Bowls and whose wife is a Brazilian model has been “hit a rough patch,” a source told PEOPLE last week. “There is a lot of tension.
She was so happy when he told her he was leaving his job, and she was not at all pleased when he changed his mind.” “He knows this is his last season in the NFL if he wants to stay married,” they said. One month after getting engaged, Brady and Bündchen got married in a small ceremony at St. Monica Catholic Church in California on February 26, 2009.
