The Witcher season 3 Release Date, Cast updates, Plot & More Details

Entertainment

These days, there’s a whole feast of Witcher media to choose from. With the recent announcement of an anime prequel and the plethora of planned spinoffs, Andrzej Sapkowski’s imagined universe continues to expand.

All eyes, though, continue to be riveted on Henry Cavill’s flagship series, and not only because Geralt is a sight to behold. The good news is that Netflix has already announced that season three would be arriving soon, even before season two finished airing.

Season three was announced during Netflix’s TUDUM event in September 2021, but there’s been a lot of developments since then. So saddle up your trusty steed and stock up on as much coinage as you can manage, because we’re heading back into the Continent to find out what happens next in The Witcher Season 3.

The Witcher season 3 Release Date predictions

It does not appear realistic that we will be able to watch the third season this year given that production is scheduled to continue all the way through September 2022. There is a good chance that rather than releasing The Witcher season 3, Netflix will release the spin-off series The Witcher: Blood Origins and then delay The Witcher season 3 until late 2023.

We could even have to wait till the end of 2023 if they want to follow up the present pattern of releasing games in December, but it’s too early to say for sure right now. Even when we have a clearer notion of when the third season will go into post-production, the release date may still be pushed back further if there are any reshoots that need to be done.

Will season 3 of The Witcher be the last?

Lauren S. Hissrich, who is in charge of the show, has said that she planned for seven seasons, so it doesn’t seem likely that season 3 will be the last one. Even though she has plans for that many seasons, that doesn’t mean that they will come true.

But since The Witcher is one of Netflix’s most popular shows, it’s clear that they care about it. They’ve already started making a universe of Witcher projects, including a live-action prequel series, an animated spin-off film, at least one more animated feature, and a family-friendly series.

There is a good chance that the show will keep going until season 7 and that Hissrich’s dream will come true. If there isn’t a season 7, I think Netflix will at least let her and fans know when the last season will air. I would be very surprised if the show didn’t last at least five seasons.

Not only that, but when talking to Brigade Radio, director Stephen Surjik said that season 4 of The Witcher was already planned out.

The Witcher season 3 synopsis and storyline

The third season will start soon after the end of the second. At this point, more people than ever are trying to catch Ciri. By the end of the second season, Ciri, Geralt, and Yennefer were finally on their way to becoming the strong family unit we know and love. Now more than ever, Geralt and Yennefer are determined to keep her safe.

It’s a good thing, too, because Nilfgaard, Rania, and even some of the elves led by Francesca are looking for the Lion Cub of Cintra. We also have problems with characters like Jaskier, who has to serve Redania right now because of Dijkstra, and Aretuza, who is in a state of change.

To top it all off, we finally saw the Wild Hunt for the first time in the second season. It’s not clear yet what role they’ll play in season 3, though.
