What is the ‘ Seven Kings must Die’ All About?
Producer Nigel Marchant told Radio Times that the film would be based on the last three volumes in Cornwell’s Saxon Series: War of the Wolf, Sword of Kings, and War Lord. We were aware that there would be additional books set after Season 5. As a result, we did initiate discussions with Netflix early on to see if we might provide that final missing element.
The film adaptation was viewed as the optimal medium for this purpose. Marchant added that the film would be its entity and an excellent entry point for new fans of the series: Season 5 really does feel like the series finale, and the film will be much more self-contained. Fans of the TV program will enjoy it even more, but newcomers to the show will also enjoy it. In addition, fans have long wondered what happened to Uhtred’s third child, Osbert, and the film may reveal his whereabouts throughout the show’s fourth season.
