We’ve followed June, played by Emmy-winning Elisabeth Olsen, as she deals with the fallout from executing Gilead Commander Fred Waterford (Joseph Fiennes), the leader of the home she was assigned to as a Handmaid, throughout the new season.

While US viewers are still suffering from the events of the last episode, UK viewers are eagerly anticipating the fourth episode of season 5, in which Waterford’s widow Serena will settle into her new post in Toronto as June fights her desire for retribution.

The Handmaid’s Tale, which is based on Margaret Attwood’s book of the same name, initially followed June, who was made to serve as a natal slave for the Waterford family in a world where fertility rates had dropped. June is known as Offred in the dystopian Gilead.

The Handmaid's Tale Season 6: Will we get to see another season?

We all want the dystopian drama to go on because actors like Yvonne Strahovski (Serena Joy Waterford), Madeline Brewer (Janine Lindo), Ann Dowd (Aunt Lydia), Max Minghella (Nick Blaine), and Bradley Whitford (Joseph Lawrence) give excellent performances as their recurring characters. However, now that June has left Gilead, it’s hard to imagine the show going on for much longer.

Here is what we currently know about The Handmaid’s Tale season 6 before this evening’s season finale in the United States.

Will Season 6 Of The Handmaid’s Tale Air?

The Handmaid’s Tale will actually return for a sixth season, according to the streaming service.

Fans might be disappointed to learn that although Hulu renewed the dystopian drama for a sixth season back in September, it will be the show’s last.

The show’s creator, Bruce Miller, said in a statement: “It has been a genuine honour to tell the narrative of Margaret Atwood’s original novel and chillingly current world, and we are happy to present audiences a sixth and final season of The Handmaid’s Tale.”

We are in awe of our great fans for their constant support, without whom we would never have reached this stage, and we are grateful to Hulu and MGM for enabling us to tell this tale, which regrettably has stayed as relevant as ever throughout its run.

But this won’t be the end of Gilead; according to Miller, a sequel series based on her book The Testaments, which is set years after the events of The Handmaid’s Tale, is “currently being developed.”

Release Date Rumors For Season 6 Of The Handmaid’s Tale

The sixth and final season’s release date has not been announced by Hulu, however, we may make an educated assumption based on the previous seasons.

The Handmaid’s Tale seasons have often been spaced out by around a year (except for the gap between seasons 3 and 4, which was affected by the pandemic).

Season 6 is most likely to debut between late 2023 and early 2024, taking into account that it took 15 months from the season 4 ending to the US premiere of season 5.

Cast Of The Handmaid’s Tale Season 6

Although we are unsure of who will return for season 6, The Handmaid’s Tale wouldn’t be the same without Elisabeth Moss, who plays June, Osbourne.

Yvonne Strahovski (Serena), Madeline Brewer (Janine), Ann Dowd (Aunt Lydia), O. T. Fagbenle (Luke), Max Minghella (Nick), Samira Wiley (Moira), Amanda Brugel (Rita), and Bradley Whitford (Joseph Lawrence) are also set to return.

Plot Of The Handmaid’s Tale Season 6

With the season 5 finale still to air, it’s difficult to predict what will happen in season 6, but showrunner Bruce Miller has hinted that he has already scripted the next episodes.

“Do I understand season 6’s plot? Yes, I did reflect on the events of season 6 for a long “He revealed it to Entertainment Weekly. “But I’ve also been seeing how other shows fared, whether they were successful or not. And I have to attend those classes.

“All I want is for the season to be strong. And as I simply want every episode to be strong, I also want every scene to be strong. And that’s all I can think of right now. Additionally, if it doesn’t seem like the

It’s acceptable if it doesn’t feel like the show’s finale. In fact, it didn’t feel like a show at all when it first started.”

Miller Stated That He Believed Season 5 To Be One Of The Most Romantic For The Star-crossed Couple, So It Doesn’t Appear That The Chemistry Between Nick And June Has Totally Vanished.

“Because they spend the entire time trying to convince themselves that they don’t need to be together, I believe this to be the most romantic Nick/June season ever.

“And in the end, they completely fail and are not successful at all. They don’t even interact in the last episode, but they are so in love that they can’t stop thinking about one other ”
