  • When the school closed, a student was on authorized leave;
  • If a student files for bankruptcy before July 1, 2020, their school will be closed within 120 days of the withdrawal or loans being disbursed; OR
  • If your school closed within 180 days of the loan being originally disbursed on or after July 1, 2020, you are eligible for a discharge.

A student won’t be eligible for loan forgiveness if their institution closes and any of the following conditions are met.

  • If the loan was issued 120 days before the school closed and if it was first disbursed prior to July 1, 2020 or
  • If the loan was taken out before 180 days before the school closed and if the loans were first issued more than 180 days after July 1, 2020.

Loan Discharge Process-
