Broderick Stephen Harvey was born in Welch, West Virginia on January 17, 1957. His family eventually relocated to Cleveland, Ohio, where he attended Glenville High School and graduated in 1974.
He attended Kent University before transferring to West Virginia University. He has worked as a boxer, autoworker, and insurance salesman, as well as a carpet cleaner and mailman, and had his comedic debut on October 8, 1985, at the Hilarities Comedy Club in Cleveland, Ohio. Harvey is no stranger to adversity; during his early career, he was homeless for three years in the late 1980s, sleeping in his 1976 Ford when the concerts he performed at did not provide a motel.

Harvey’s 27-year career as a stand-up comedian came to an end on August 2, 2012, when he did his final stand-up act at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. In addition to his comedic career, Harvey has had a number of achievements in his numerous other undertakings.

He rose to prominence in the contemporary era as a result of YouTube and the numerous viral videos depicting his responses to “Family Feud” contestants and their improper or inaccurate answers. Harvey’s second wife, Mary Shackelford, had a son called Wynton. They split in November 2005. In 2011, 199th District Court Judge Robert Dry of Collin County, Texas, expressed worry that Mary Harvey was distributing misleading information regarding the divorce, claiming she was not economically poor.
Harvey married Marjorie Bridges in June 2007, claiming she changed his life and made him a better guy. Steve Harvey adopted Marjorie Harvey’s three children (Morgan, Jason, and Lori). Kent State University has joined with the organisation in order to grant scholarships to students who are fatherless. At Walt Disney World Resort, Harvey partners with Walt Disney World Resort and Essence to host the Disney Dreamers Academy, an annual seminar for 100 students.
