With Shadow and Bone, a television version of Leigh Bardugo’s young adult fantasy series, Netflix scored a major smash last year. The show, which is based on Russian history, follows two sets of characters: in one corner, we have Alina Starkov, a young girl who is discovered to possess a magical talent that could aid in the unification of her home country of Ravka; in the other, we have a group of characters who are all related to each other.
The Crows, a troop of mercenaries dispatched to capture her, are the subject of the other story. The Crows are based on characters from another book series by author Leigh Bardugo called Six of Crows; the TV program effectively combines the two series while maintaining the appearance of everything being part of a single whole.
Netflix, as expected, is hard at work on a second season. It’s now under production and will feature new characters like Nikolai Lantsov, a prince of Ravka, among others. Filming has begun, but we will have to wait a while before we see any new episodes of the show.
when is shadow and bone season 2 coming out
shadow and Bone is a high fantasy television series set in a mythical land divided by a rift of magical darkness and populated by individuals known as Grisha, who have the ability to do everything from produce light to blow apart people’s internal organs with their bare hands. It is, in a nutshell, a difficult production to produce, and it will take longer to complete.
Season 2 of Shadow and Bone could premiere as early as later this year, but it’s also possible that we won’t see it until sometime in 2023. Crossing our fingers and hoping for the best is what we’ll do.

Shadow and Bone season 2 plot
Season 2 will most likely continue the stories from Siege and Storm, Six of Crows, and King of Scars, among other books. This is based on the show’s returning cast members, new cast members who have joined the cast, and what the season 1 finale established.
Following the conclusion of season 1, in which Alina and Mal parted ways to join the Dregs, the second season will see them continue their trip to new territories in order to keep Alina out of Kirigan’s reach. That implies they’re almost certain to run into Nikolai at some time, but we’ll get to him in a minute or two.
Kirigan has tapped into his Darkling powers, as seen in the season 1 finale, and has created new Fold creatures known as Nichevo’ya. These monsters, in contrast to the Volcra that inhabit the Fold, are capable of moving in broad daylight. They will most likely prove to be challenging opponents for Alina and Mal to conquer.
Alina’s path was complicated by the Dregs, who were integrated into the season 1 storyline by Ben Barnes, who plays Kirigan/the Darkling in Netflix’s TV show. According to Collider, Barnes has shown interest in seeing season 2 “drift away” from the storyline in the books. It’s unknown whether or not season 2 will take this approach, but it would be an interesting spin on the source material. Even if the show did stray significantly from the novels, it would provide new material for existing fans to enjoy, while some may object to the show’s probable departure from the novels.
The Dregs, on the other hand, are likely to join forces with Nina in order to liberate Matthias, with the two, as well as Wylan, playing a crucial role in Kaz’s plan to rescue Bo Yul-Bayur. The Shu chemist and Fabrikator is the creator of a narcotic that Grisha finds addictive, but he is currently being kept captive at Fjerda’s Ice Court in Siege and Storm, according to the story. Considering that Shadow and Bone season 1 already made use of the Ice Court’s ‘impossible heist’ angle for the Dregs’ initial mission to try and capture Alina, it’s possible that Bo’s rescue will be altered for the TV series. Shadow and Bone season 1 also made use of the Ice Court’s ‘impossible heist’ angle for their initial mission to try and capture Alina.
Zoya will be followed by another adapted story from a Grishaverse novel – King of Scars – in the near future. Zoya’s character is given a more prominent role in Bardugo’s second duology, and elements of the story from these books may be incorporated into the TV show, as Bardugo teased in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. Zoya’s character was a supporting character in the Grisha trilogy, but her character is given a more prominent role in Bardugo’s second duology, and elements of the story from these books may be incorporated into the TV show, as Bardugo tea
Season 1 concluded with Zoya travelling to Novokribrisk – the city that Kirigan destroyed with the Fold – in order to hunt for her missing family. If Zoya discovers that they have perished, she may join forces with the Dregs once more, as she does in the Crooked Kingdom novel by Six of Crows. Alternatively, given the fact that Tamar and Tolya cross paths with Zoya in King of Scars, as well as their presence in season 2, it is possible that this trio will form a partnership.
The acquisition of Lantsov will result in his character’s arc from Siege and Storm becoming a significant part of the show’s second season. A fictional pirate captain known as Sturmhond, Lantsov (the former king of Ravka) is recruited by the Darkling to carry him through the True Sea in search of a mythological dragon known as the Rusalye, which is depicted in several novels. Lantsov, on the other hand, eventually joins forces with Alina and Mal and fights with them in order to prevent the Darkling from carrying out his master plan. Lantsov’s origin narrative, as well as some of his Siege and Storm character arc, will most likely be featured in the TV show.
Finally, we have an idea of how many episodes will be included in season 2. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Shadow and Bone will return for a second eight-episode season, which is great news for those of us who appreciated what was on offer during season 1.
