Orville Season 3: Hulu Release Date, Cast, Plot – All We Know So Far

Entertainment

A number of popular television shows have been cancelled by streaming services and broadcasters without warning, sending some beloved shows to the television graveyard. With two seasons almost completed, fans of The Orville are eager to find out if the show will be back for a third season.

What do you think? Does Seth MacFarlane’s science fiction comedy-drama have enough gasoline (or Dysonium) left in the tank to take you on another space-filled adventure?

Here’s all you need to know about the process.

The Orville season 3 release date: When will it air?

The Orville season 3 will premiere on March 10, 2022. The Orville: New Horizons

Season three was originally postponed until 2019. According to MacFarlane’s statement (via TV Line), “The Orville has been a labour of love for me, and two companies have greatly aided that vision: 20th Century Fox Television, with whom I’ve worked since my early career, and Fox Broadcasting Company, now Fox Entertainment, where I’ve worked for over 20 years.”

I knew I couldn’t provide episodes until 2020 since the programme has matured and gotten more ambitious in production, which would be difficult for the network. So we started talking about how to effectively assist the third season.”

“It hasn’t altered,” executive producer and writer David Goodman told Trek Movie. “Hulu provides greater flexibility.”

“Under Seth’s direction, we follow the idea.” We plan the episode and show, write it, and then produce it. And Hulu allows us to not worry about duration after it’s produced. So expect a range of lengths. It allows us to keep content we would have had to cut on a network.”

The film was supposed to be released in late 2020, but the worldwide circumstances prevented development. But The Orville returned in 2021.

So did the show’s social media profiles.

Seth MacFarlane stated in August 2021 that production on season three was been concluded following multiple epidemic delays. He also hoped it wasn’t the show’s final season.

MacFarlane has already discussed the labour involved in producing the show.

“Even the spectacular effects in the pilot aren’t simply going to be in the pilot,” he told Forbes. A large splashy expensive-looking pilot followed by 12 episodes of interiors. You can see where they spent their money, and that isn’t the case here.

“You’ll see that scope and enthusiasm from all areas.” “I’ve never seen anything on Network Television that combines makeup, costumes, effects, stage design, and props like this.”

The Orville season 3 cast: Who’s in it?

Executive producer David Goodman told Trek Movie that they “love her and would absolutely want to figure out ways that she can come back” after losing Halston Sage’s Lieutenant Alara Kitan in season two.

He concluded by saying: “She won’t be returning as a regular, in my opinion. That being said, we all like that character, and I believe she would be game for a return if the script allowed it, and we would all be thrilled to see her again.”

MacFarlane will reprise his role as Captain Ed Mercer, the show’s executive producer and one of its stars.

In addition, the following members of the cast have been confirmed to return for season three:

  • Adrianne Palicki is the author of this post (as Commander Kelly Grayson)
  • Jessica Szohr’s (Lieutenant Talla Keyali)
  • Penny Jerald Johnson (Doctor Claire Finn)
  • Grimes, Scott (Lieutenant Gordon Malloy)
  • Macon’s Peter (Lieutenant Commander Bortus)
  • Phenomenon of the year (Lieutenant Commander John LaMarr)
  • The Mark Jackson (Isaac)
  • Coleman, Chad L. (Klyden)

Prior to his death in September 2021, Norm MacDonald had finished all of his voicing work for the Gelatin Lieutenant Yaphit series.

Following the news of MacDonald’s passing, Seth MacFarlane tweeted about him. “Norm MacDonald was the funniest person I’ve ever worked with, and I’m not the only one.”

Twitter feeds are used to populate this page. On their website, you may discover the same stuff in a different format or even more information.

Co-producer Tom Cosantino uploaded a photo of MacDonald’s character Yaphit riding a trolley to the scene months before his demise.

In addition, there are new cast members.

In addition to 13 Reasons Why actress Anne Winters and The 100 actress Eliza Taylor, Deadline reports that they’ll appear in a role yet to be revealed.

The Orville season 3 plot: What will happen?

However, Goodman has said he would like to explore the repercussions of Isaac’s decisions in “Identity” and “Identity Part II” in the next batch of episodes (season two: episodes eight and nine).

“Are there any consequences for Isaac’s actions??” Season two didn’t have any consequences, so that’s a question for season three,” he explained.

“We are still going to be doing standalone episodes,” he said in an interview with Trek Movie. However, we’ve shown that we can go deeper into the Union, the aliens, and our characters now that we’ve shown that we can. As a result, the construction will continue.

It’s important to us that we stick to the show’s format, though… You don’t want newcomers to the show to be perplexed. That’s something we’ve always aimed for. We don’t want to turn off any potential new listeners by doing so.”

“There are things in the first couple of [episodes of season three] that explain some things, answering questions people may have had at the beginning of season two,” he said.

Also on Twitter, MacFarlane said that season three will “up our game”.

To paraphrase Goodman, “the big and small stories we’ve gone back to more than once” will be obvious to any fans of the show, no matter how many times they’ve seen the show before.

Expanding the characters and storylines, we’re taking advantage of all that we’ve done before.”

The importance of taking things seriously was also brought up.

As Goodman put it, “The programme can’t just be entertaining space action.” Commenting on present society and social mores is something we take on almost as an obligation. The characters are what keeps people watching. Those heartfelt tales are what keep the show moving.

The teaser video published with the news that the programme would return in March 2022 does disclose a few things.

To begin, the show will be referred to as The Orville: New Horizons going further on.

Second, if the teaser is any indication, this season is likely to be much more intense than previous ones have been. The Orville’s bridge and two vacant chairs are seen in the teaser, which also incorporates conversation from the show. The voices get more dramatic as the lights in the cabin turn from blue to an unsettling red, before concluding with the words “You will submit or you will die.” We’re a little nervous.
