The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Season 4 Plot

Prime Video has released the official plot synopsis for the season, which can be found here.

“It’s 1960, and there’s a sense of change in the air.” Midge finds a gig that allows her complete creative freedom, which she uses to hone her act.

Although she is passionate about what she does, her dedication to her craft and the places it takes her causes her to become estranged from the people in her life.

Rather than portraying Midge’s retribution for her problematic behavior towards Shy Baldwin (Leroy McClain), a Black and openly gay pop singer who had previously invited Midge to be his opening act on tour, the season three finale depicted Midge’s retribution for her problematic behavior towards Shy Baldwin (Leroy McClain).

Midge, on the other hand, was eventually fired after she made stereotypical jokes about Shy’s sexuality during her appearance on the Apollo show, in which she made jokes about Shy’s “Judy Garland shoes” and how “he pretty much has a guy for everything else.”

Considering the show’s historical setting in the 1960s, the comments were potentially extremely dangerous for Shy, who had already been the victim of a violent homophobic attack earlier in the year.

Midge was fired by Shy (through his manager, Reggie), and she and her manager, Susie, were left crying on the tarmac of the airport as Shy and his entourage took off for Europe in a private jet.

Season four will no doubt deal with the professional and financial ramifications of Midge’s unexpected unemployment, especially given the fact that she has only recently purchased a posh new apartment (using her contract with Shy as collateral).
