The Targaryens will be seen at their most potent in HBO’s upcoming “House of the Dragon.” The “Game of Thrones” prequel transports us back 200 years to a time when Targaryens – and dragons – abound.
House of the Dragon aspires to recapture the enchantment that made Game of Thrones such a smash hit.— at least for six seasons — by chronicling the peak and subsequent fall of House Targaryen.
The show is about The Dance of the Dragons, and a civil war erupted after two Targaryens began a blood feud over who should sit on the Iron Throne. House of the Dragon, like Game of Thrones before it, will air one episode at a time.
It retains its predecessor’s old prime-time slot. Game of Thrones was one of the world’s most acclaimed serial dramas, famous for bringing Hollywood blockbuster production to your television screen.
However, the show is lustre dimmed in the final two seasons since the HBO show was made at a faster rate than Martin could write new books. Winds of Winter, the sixth book in the Song of Fire and Ice series, is known for its frequent delays.
Fortunately, House of the Dragon permits HBO to plagiarise from Martin’s notes once more. The show is based on Martin’s 2018 novel Fire and Blood. House of the Dragon picks up roughly halfway through Fire and Blood, the first of two volumes Martin is writing on the Targaryen dynasty.
Release date and production information
HBO has ordered ten episodes of the new show for the entire season. But you know that if it is a success – and how could it not be? – there will be further seasons. Martin stated that the filming locations might look familiar. “I expect we will revisit at least some of the countries David (Benioff) & Dan (Weiss) used for Game of Thrones (Ireland, Iceland, Scotland, Croatia, Morocco, Malta, and Spain),”
Martin wrote. And if he ever finishes that bothersome Winds of Winter novel, the author has stated that he might even write some episodes himself. We are still waiting for the book in 2022, but we can dream. The precursor to Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon, will premiere on HBO and HBO Max on August 21, 2022.

Rumors and hypotheses about the plot of the series
Damn, Fire & Blood is an extensive (almost 700-page) book that covers 150 years of Targaryen history. Martin also has ideas for a second book. Even if it is renewed for numerous seasons, a 10-episode show cannot possibly cover every event in the novel. However, “the show will focus on a period that leads up to, then eventually includes, the most dramatic event during Targaryen rule: The Dance of Dragons, the Targaryen Civil War.” according to Entertainment Weekly.
