Diaz, who formally announced her retirement from Hollywood in 2018, will co-star with Jamie Foxx in the upcoming Netflix movie “Back in Action.” They worked together in 2014’s “Annie,” which was Diaz’s last big-screen role.
“(Jamie Foxx) only you could get me back in action, “The actress wrote about it in an Instagram story after the news broke. “I can’t frickin wait it’s gonna be a blast!”
Netflix hasn’t set a date for the movie’s release yet, but Foxx said on Twitter that filming will start this year.

In a press release, Netflix doesn’t say much about the new movie, other than the fact that Seth Gordon, who directed Horrible Bosses, wrote, produced, and directed it. Beau Bauman, who was in Central Intelligence, will be the producer, and Brendan O’Brien, who was in Neighbors, is helping with the script. Netflix says that the movie’s plot will be kept “a secret” and that filming will start later this year. Diaz was last seen in the remake of Annie in 2014, which also had Foxx in it. Both of them were in a 1999 movie about sports called Any Given Sunday.

Netflix has 74.58 million subscribers in the US and Canada and about 222 million subscribers around the world, but in the first quarter of 2022, the company said it lost subscribers. In May, a survey showed that more long-term Netflix subscribers were leaving the service. Last quarter, 3.6 million people stopped paying for Netflix.
Netflix wants to get more subscribers and keep the ones it already has. A movie with big names like Diaz and Foxx could help it do that. When it came out in 2020, Project Power on Netflix, which also stars Jamie Foxx, was seen by 75 million people. Netflix put out Red Notice with Dwayne Johnson, Gal Gadot, and Ryan Reynolds last year. Next month, Chris Evans and Ryan Gosling will be in The Gray Man.
