Alchemy of Souls was one of the first fantasy Kdramas, and we loved every minute of it because it kept surprising us. Who would have thought that just one episode of this show would make us look forward to it every week? We are proud of how much we liked this show.
Since it started airing on June 18, “Alchemy of Souls” has become a fan favorite. The story is about how the lives of many powerful mages are linked together. In order to save each other and get over their fears of alchemy, they make and break their lives.
With episode 20, Alchemy of Souls season 1 ended on Sunday, August 28, 2022. Before the start of its second season, the high-rated fantasy romance left viewers in the dark. The good news is that viewers will not have to wait too long to find out what happens to Jang Uk (Lee Jae-Wook).
The Korean network tvN, which airs the show, says that the second season of Alchemy of Souls will start in December 2022. But the makers have not said for sure when it would come out. This is typical for a second season because the network needs to give its next show, Little Women, enough time to finish.
Even before episode 20 of Alchemy of Souls aired, there were rumors that Jung So-min, who plays the assassin Naksu/Mu-deok, would not be back for the second season. The show’s creators did not say anything about it, though, because they did not want to give away the end of the first season.
Now that the episode has aired, it is clear that Jin Bu-body, Yeon’s, which is Mu-vessel, deok’s, may be destroyed after her soul has gone crazy. People who shift souls are said to have this happen to them. Since Naksu’s soul is in Mu-body, deok’s the only thing left to do to destroy the body. Now, the question is, if Naksu’s soul does move to another body, where will it go?

The answer is hinted at in the commercial for the end of the season. In the scene after the credits, all of the main characters who will be in the next season, except Mu-deok, are shown. Instead, Go Yoon-Jung, who is an actor, will be shown.
In the first season, she was known as Naksu, the killer. It will be interesting to see how the show will explain why she is back. Since Jin-mu burned her body in the first season, it will be interesting to see how Naksu comes back with her original body. Fans also think that Naksu’s ship, Mu-deok, will not be back for the new season because of this.
But, can the chemistry between Lee Jae-Wook and Jung So-min be recreated between Go Yoon-Jung and Lee Jae-Wook? Or will they come back in the next season as enemies? Let us wait until the new season comes out to answer all the questions fans have. Alchemy of Souls’ second season will start sometime in December 2022.
