Despite claiming that her reputation had been tarnished, she was granted only $30,000 in damages in a lawsuit against the network.

As a result of her highly publicized exit from Three’s Company, Suzanne Somers found it difficult to land roles in comedies when the show ended. However, in 1987, She’s the Sheriff brought her back to the comedy scene. There were two seasons of the show. It has been reported that Somers has been featured in Playboy on two previous occasions. Despite her portrayal as a penniless single mother unable to pay her expenses, the magazine published pictures of the actress naked on two separate occasions. She first resisted the idea of posing naked, but in the end, she relented. Playboy published the photos in 1980, proving her false after she later denied participating in the session. Somers was enraged and filed a lawsuit against Playboy, which resulted in a $50,000 settlement. That her 14-year-old son would see the photos and that it would have an impact on his mental health was one of her major worries for her mother.

Despite her resentment about the first nude photo, Somers consented to appear again four years later. She had the impression that, at the very least, this time, she had some influence over the image quality. Considering she had recently left Three’s Company, she had high hopes that it would help resurrect her career. The second nude photo was released in 1984, and her son, 18, subsequently admitted to viewing the nude pictures — despite her assertion that he wouldn’t want to see his mom in Playboy.
