Severance Season 2 Release Date: Are There Any Latest Updates On Ben Stiller’s Apple TV+ Series?

We don’t think that the long wait for Severance season 2 will end very soon, but we do have a little update!

After Adam Scott’s Mark Scout and his coworkers pushed work/life balance to the limit, Ben Stiller’s Apple TV+ series became an international hit. The dramatic cliffhanger at the finale has left fans demanding more, but production has been delayed due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes.

By finally confirming that season 2 is presently in development, Stiller has finally put his fans’ suffering to rest. Here is everything we currently know about Severance season 2 after that.

Severance Season 2 Release Date

After the delays, we can probably anticipate Severance Season 2 to be released in 2025 at the latest. The release date of Severance season 2 on Apple TV+ has not yet been announced.

After an image of Scott was shared on social media as part of an Apple TV+ tease, one fan tagged Stiller and said, “Give us a sign.” Stiller’s response, which sent everyone into a tailspin, was a simple “We are working on it.”

Severance Season 2 Cast Speculations

For Severance season two, the following cast members are anticipated to return:

  • Adam Scott as Mark Scout
  • Britt Lower as Helly
  • Zach Cherry as Dylan
  • John Turturro as Irving
  • Patricia Arquette as Harmony Cobel
  • Tramell Tillman as Seth Milchick
  • Christopher Walken as Burt
  • Dichen Lachman as Ms Casey

Variety revealed in October 2022 that they will have some new members. Gwendoline Christie from Wednesday and Game of Thrones, Alia Shawkat from Arrested Development, Bob Balaban from The French Dispatch, and Merritt Wever from Unbelievable are among them; however, it’s unclear who they’ll be playing just yet.

Additional confirmations include Ă“lafur Darri Ă“lafsson (The Tourist), John Noble (The Lord of the Rings), Robby Benson (One To One), and Stefano Carannante (Mirabilia).

While other guest characters (such as Yul Vazquez’s “Petey”) continued to appear in flashbacks and archive footage, it’s less apparent if these individuals would be featured in the story going forward given that some of them passed away during season 1.

Severance Season 2 Trailer

Following the confirmation of the renewal, Apple released a brief teaser trailer for the second season, which you can see in the tweet below.

Severance Season 2 Plotline

Fans of Severance will be thanking Kier himself for the news that a second season would be returning to continue where the previous one left off, as the show ends on quite the cliffhanger. If you’re not up to date, beware—spoilers ahead.

Following the split “Outie” life of Mark Scout and the independent “Innie” existence of Mark S, the last episode merges the two storylines, with “Innie” Mark experiencing his first awakening within his body outside of the Lumon building.

Read some latest information here:

He’s not alone, either, as Helly and Irving, two of his MDR coworkers, also awaken in their “outie” bodies as a result of Dylan’s (Zach Cherry) activation of the Overtime procedure.

After finding the creepy paintings he’s been doing of a sinister hallway in the Lumon building, Irving (John Turturro) goes in search of his beloved Burt (Christopher Walken), only to find out that he has an outside partner. Still, he’s ready to confront outie Burt as the credits roll.

In the same vein, Helly (Britt Lower) learns some harsh realities. As it happens, Helena Egan, a senior employee of Lumon who agreed to be “severed” for publicity purposes, is her “Outie.” She reveals the truth about the sad lives of the fired employees on stage at an elegant gala.

As everything is going on, Mark (Adam Scott) finds out more lies after telling his sister the truth. When he comes upon a picture of “his” wife, he discovers something that the top shots at Egon and the audience have been aware of for some time: she is still alive and employed by Lumon as the enigmatic wellness representative Ms. Casey (Dichen Lachman).

In the final moments before his “Outie” regains control, Mark S cries, “She’s alive!” as Dylan is tackled in the Egon control room, in an attempt to convey this. There are numerous storylines to continue in a second season.

Will the public turn against Severance as a result of Helly and Mark’s revelations? Has Irving gotten to know Burt? And when the fired MDR workers report back to Lumon for their next shift, how will they be disciplined?

While hinting that there will be answers (and more questions) in store for the second chapter, Stiller gave some preview information back in April 2022. Furthermore, we still don’t know what precisely MDR is working on at Lumon, how Mark’s wife managed to survive, the purpose of Ms. Cobell’s (Patricia Arquette) connections with her, or what the devil was up with the newborn goats.

In a nutshell, there’s a ton of material left to cover, so it’s a good thing there will be more episodes to finish it all off. You can watch Severance season one on Apple TV+ right now. Visit novascotiatoday.com, our website, for additional information.
