Here are the five things to know about Allu Arjun’s Pushpa: The Rule:
Did you know that Pushpa was supposed to be a web series?
Years ago, a red sandalwood smuggling case in Andhra Pradesh made national news because of the quantity of the wood involved. Sukumar was the one who did the research on the subject. Sukumar stated to the media that he had spent the previous six months of his life studying the red sandalwood syndicate, which he described as “a nightmare.” He also mentioned that he had considered converting it into a web series at one point in the past. However, after considerable deliberation, they chose to adapt it into a feature picture.
Pushpa Plot :
Formed in the Seshachalam Hills of Chittoor district, Andhra Pradesh’s Pushpa Raj is a coolie who smuggles red sandalwood. When DSP Govindappa attacks them in the woods, Pushpa hides and rescues the stock, earning Konda Reddy’s trust. He soon rises through the ranks and becomes Konda Reddy’s partner.
Mangalam Srinu, the ruthless boss of the red sandalwood syndicate, entrusted Konda Reddy with 200 tonnes of stock. Due of Jolly Reddy’s incompetence, Pushpa gets the position. Govindappa raids them, but Pushpa tosses the logs into the river, rescuing them. Pushpa overhears Srinu selling the wood for far more than they are paid. Confronting Srinu seems hazardous, so he gets Konda to demand a fair share.
Pushpa meets Srivalli and falls in love. In the subsequent altercation, his half-brother Mohan rejects Pushpa’s heritage because he was born out of wedlock. This enrages Pushpa, inspiring him to greater heights. Taking the wood to Chennai the next day, he meets Srinu and asks 1 crore (US$130,000) each tonne. Pushpa overpowers Srinu’s soldiers and they flee. To sell the wood for 1.5 crore ($200,000) each tonne, Konda and Pushpa agree to split the proceeds evenly.
Then Jolly kidnaps Srivalli and forces her to spend the night with him. A furious Pushpa beats Jolly, leaving him unconscious. When Konda discovers that Pushpa is the cause of his brother’s illness, Srinu’s soldiers assault him. In the midst of the chaos, Pushpa counterattacks. Pushpa saves Konda’s brother Jakka Reddy. He also murders Srinu’s brother-in-law Mogileesu. A ceasefire between Pushpa and Srinu is arranged by MP Bhumireddy Siddappa Naidu. Pushpa gains influence in 6 months. In order to revenge her brother-in-law, Dakshayini cuts Srinu’s neck.
While Pushpa is in his prime, Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat takes over as district SP. An offer of 1 crore (US$130,00) from Pushpa. Instead of respecting Pushpa’s ancestry, Shekhawat intimidates and ridicules him as “Sir”. This insult enrages Pushpa and he fists. Shekhawat threatens to shoot Pushpa’s hand. Pushpa gives up and flees the station. On Pushpa’s wedding night, Pushpa and Shekhawat drink. Pushpa, enraged after being mocked during their first encounter, snatches Shekhawat’s handgun and kills himself. He makes Shekhawat undress as he undresses himself. Pushpa claims his status as a syndicate leader hasn’t changed, while Shekhawat is so unrecognisable in his civilian clothes that even his dog wouldn’t know him. Pushpa leaves for his wedding, leaving Shekhawat half-naked. His dog, as expected, barks. Shekhawat kills the dog and burns the bribe money.
