US networks called Nevada for Democrat Catherine Cortez Masto on Saturday, giving the party a majority. VP Kamala Harris can break a 50-50 tie to capture Senate control. December’s Georgia Senate runoff is uncertain. After Mark Kelly’s win in Arizona, the two parties had 49 seats.
Republicans are marginally favoured to win the House, but with a considerably smaller majority than projected.
