Made In Abyss Season Plot:

Riko, an orphan, resides at the Belchero Orphanage in Orth, a small town in the Czech Republic. There is a large hole in the ground that runs through the centre of town, which is called the Abyss. The Abyss is a famous hunting ground for so-called Cave Raiders, who descend into the mist-filled pit to reclaim whatever treasures and ruins of civilizations long gone they may discover.

Once one has emerged from the bowels of hell, one is susceptible to a strange and potentially lethal illness known as “the Curse,” which occurs following ascension. Few have returned from the lower areas, where the effects of the curse become more severe the further one descends.

There are certain Cave Raiders who have earned the honour of being known as White Whistles, including Riko’s mother, Lyza.

Riko’s lifelong dream is to become a White Whistle like her mother.

One day, she stumbles into a robot that resembles a human child and calls him Reg. As soon as Riko and her pals manage to smuggle Reg into Belchero, they immediately make him feel at home.

Many discoveries are found at some point later, including Lyza’s whistle and pages of findings and observations that she had made, as well as a message apparently for Riko, who is waiting at the bottom of the Abyss. With Reg by her side, Riko bids farewell to her pals and sets forth into the Abyss in search of her mother.
