Kate Burton is all set to reprise her role as Dr. Ellis Grey for ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Season 18

The 63 year old American actress, known for having received immense critical acclamation for her role as Dr. Ellis Grey in the fifteenth season of the popular Shonda Rhimes television series ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ is back to reprise her role in the all new upcoming installment of the show as well.

Accordingly to ‘PEOPLE’, Kate Burton will be joining the cast of ABC’s superhit medical drama series as the protagonist Meredith Grey’s late mother.

Burton, who last appeared in the show for season 15, premiered in 2019, in her daughter Meredith’s dream had passed away due to Alzheimer’s in the very third installment, however it remains undisclosed as to how her character will be brought back onscreen in the show’s upcoming season 18.

The actress has been a part of 23 episodes of ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ till date, and has even been nominated for Emmy Awards twice for her role.

Not only Dr. Ellis Grey, but several other dead characters too, have revisited Meredith in the previous seasons, all while the lady was busy struggling with COVID-19, laying on her imaginary beach.

Some of these short lived characters include, Chyler Leigh as Meredith’s half-sister Lexie, Eric Dane as Mark Sloan, T.R. Knight as George O’Malley and Patrick Dempsey as her longtime love, Derek Shepherd.
