Amazon Prime’s ‘Goliath’ has been one of the most popular series on the streaming service since it launched in 2011. In the legal drama, Billy McBride’s difficult life is followed, including his time as an ace lawyer before going through a bad period before his passion in the law is resurrected by a bizarre case. The series, which was created by David E. Kelley (‘Mr. Mercedes’) and Jonathan Shapiro, launched in 2016 and has since gained a cult following.

The show has received positive reviews for its depiction of the legal system, as well as the corruption that exists inside it. Goliath Season 5 Release Date

So, the show’s creators had to come up with a satisfying ending, and it’s safe to say they did a good job of that. In the last season, McBride tries to get justice for the people who died because of the opioid epidemic. The fight between Billy Bob Thornton’s McBride and J.K. Simmons’ George Zax is a real treat for the viewers. McBride comes out on top. After McBride gets over his inner pain, he meets up with Denise, who he hasn’t seen in years, at the end of the series.
A reason for why the series is ending with the fourth instalment hasn’t been made clear by anyone. In September 2021, Thornton, the star of the show, said that he had only signed on for four seasons. Because he thought the fourth season was the best so far, he thought the fifth season would be hard to beat. Because of this, he thinks the fourth edition is the best way to end the show.
During the same interview, the actor also said that his main interests are music and movies, which made it seem like he might be interested in new projects. Because Thornton has played McBride for four seasons, his feelings make sense. The cast changed a lot over the course of the show, but Thornton was one of the few players who stayed the same each season. Furthermore, if he were to leave early, it would be hard to imagine the legal drama going on without its star.

- Billy McBride, played by Billy Bob Thornton, was once a brilliant and friendly lawyer who founded the law firm Cooperman McBride with Donald Cooperman. With Cooperman, he built it into a successful law firm. A murder suspect he was acquitted of on a technicality went on to kill an entire family. He left the firm and became an alcoholic because of this. It’s called the Ocean Lodge Hotel, and it’s near the Santa Monica Pier. He lives there for a long time.
- McBride is also a graduate of the University of California Berkeley School of Law and Indiana University, two schools that he went to school for.
- Nina Arianda plays Patty Solis-Papagian, a lawyer who also works as a real estate agent. She brings Rachel Kennedy’s case to McBride, who takes it.
- Tania Raymonde plays Brittany Gold, a sex worker who cares about Billy McBride and sometimes helps him with his legal work, like when he hires her.
- Denise McBride is Billy and Michelle’s 16-year-old daughter. Diana Hopper played Denise McBride in the first season and in the main seasons 2–4.
- McBride’s co-founder of Cooperman McBride was Donald Cooperman, played by William Hurt in the first season and again in the third and fourth seasons. Cooperman has burns on his face, and he doesn’t leave his office very often. Most people at the law firm have never seen him. He watches meetings and depositions from afar with cameras. As long as he doesn’t tell anyone, he has bugged the whole office, which gives him access to everything that happens there. In his mind, McBride is a bad person.
Casting :
June 25, 2015, it was said that Kevin Costner was in talks to play Billy McBride in the show. By June 30, he had broken off talks. As of July 23, 2015, Billy Bob Thornton had been cast in the role. After Olivia Thirlby and Maria Bello joined the main cast in August, they became part of the main group. September 14 was the day that Sarah Wynter was cast in the role of Gina Larson for the rest of the show. In November, Molly Parker and Britain Dalton joined the show as regulars. Nina Arianda and Tania Raymonde were also added to the main cast in March of that year, and they will be in the movie. In June, Dwight Yoakam and Harold Perrineau were cast in roles that they would play again and again. In August, the last casting announcements were made: Diana Hopper and Jason Ritter were both cast in recurring roles in the show.

There are 37 professional reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, and the first season has an overall rating of 78 percent based on those reviews. Goliath, directed by David E. Kelley, has been hailed by critics for its “compelling performances from a strong ensemble, highlighted by standout Billy Bob Thornton.” There are “generally good reviews” for the first season on Metacritic, with a weighted average score of 65 out of 100.
Season two has an approval rating of 88 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, which is based on the opinions of 8 reviewers. For the second season, reviewer and audience ratings were far more unequal than in the first. Season two has received an average rating of 2.7 stars out of 5 stars from Amazon Prime customers, with more than 4,700 reviews, 43 percent of which are one-star ratings.
Season three has a rating of 80% on Rotten Tomatoes based on the opinions of five critics.
